Ebay unconfirmed address?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2008: Ebay unconfirmed address?
By Reds9298 on Friday, October 17, 2008 - 11:04 am:

I sold an item on ebay and the buyer has an unconfirmed address. The info says that it means that basically the address hasn't been confirmed with a cc billing address. I'm assuming this means she just hasn't added a cc as back-up funding. Is there any problem with sending it to her? I don't think I'm covered by paypal's seller protection, but it's a small item that was inexpensive.
No big deal??

I ask sellers all the time to ship things to an unconfirmed address because I prefer that things be shipped to my work address (my work doesn't care) because the Fedex/UPS people tend to leave things on my porch and they could get taken since I am not home most of the day. You could always ask why they are not using their confirmed address.. And it could be a new account that just hasn't been confirmed yet.

I also never complain when they insist on sending it to my confirmed address.. It is more inconveinent but I know they are protecting me and themselves.

I email asking them to confirm their address so you have it in writing that is where it is going. It IS a risk sending it to an unconfirmed address. Paypal will not protect you from a chargeback with an unconfirmed address.

I don't think it's a big deal. Like Tarable said, a lot of people like their items shipped to their workplace. UPS/Fedex policies are to leave item unless a signature is required, which ends up costing a bit more.

I would check their feedback, and if they haven't had any past problems I'd just send it to them.

I never thought of having it sent to a work address, which makes sense. Thanks! :)
