Trina- carseat for flying?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2008: Trina- carseat for flying?

Our Disney trip in December will be Natalie's first flight. Is our car seat necessary? We won't be renting a car, just shuttling from park to park. We will also have a 45-min. or so coach bus ride from to and from the airport/resort.

She will be 4 1/2 by then and weighs about 41 lbs. right now. Won't she be fine in a seat belt on the plane?

TIA:)

When flying, a car seat is best until at least 4 yrs. and 40 lbs.. Boosters aren't allowed on aircraft because they require both a lap and shoulder belt, which planes don't have. Yes, I think she'll be fine with just the aircraft seat belt. :)

Have fun!

Thanks a lot Trina.

Helen will turn 4 next week and did a-ok in the aircraft seat.
I was so surprised that the FL law allows a child over 6 to be in car without a booster!

Ame, "legal" doesn't necessarily = "safe".

Actually in FL kids 4+ are not required by law to be in a car seat. That's sad. Many state child restraint laws don't coincide with current child passenger safety recommendations.
