Just wondering how you're holding up with the move! I know you're probably pretty busy, but just wanted you to know I've been thinking about you. How's Natalie doing?

I can only imagine how eager you all are to have this behind you and be in your new home.:-) I hope you are doing okay.

Got an email from her the other day so she should be on here soon telling you all about it! They survived the move! :)

Yes, we've landed!! Thank you all for thinking of me!:)

First of all, my first thought is HIRE MOVERS. Don't ever move yourself! It was so hard and so much work, and although I know how $$$ it would have been to have movers, I was regretting not having them at the end of the day. Finally getting here was SO OVERWHELMING. We have SO MUCH STUFF. But the house is getting settled now, and starting to feel more like home. We've been here a full week now.

I cried when we left the old house, I cried the 3 days befor leaving. I had to go back one more day to clean before giving up the keys. That was TERRIBLE....totally. I cleaned and sobbed the entire time. I really was trying to figure out a way to keep that house, isn't that crazy?! It really was one of the hardest things I've done, and that surprises me. We're homebodies on top of being creatures ofhabit, so our private country home was really our safe haven, you know? Once we got here, a few days in, I got excited about the new house and thought 'ok, leaving the old one isn't so bad'. Once I got back there though, just awful. I don't feel like DH and I got to say goodbye to it properly together - so much to do in the week before and then I had to go back alone for the cleaning. I like it here, but it's weird to have neighbors, so we're not sure how we're going to feel about that. I guess we'll see in a couple of years if neighborhood living is do-able for us! Everyone has been very nice, but we're just so used to so much privacy.

Natalie has handled the whole move just incredibly! I really can't believe it. She thinks the whole new house thing is such a great adventure, didn't have trouble sleeping in her new room even from night one. I've just been really impressed with her. She LOVES her new school as well, and is so grown up all of a sudden. I'm wondering how this change took place and I didn't even see it.

Thank you for thinking of us. I appreciate it! I don't know how some of you have moved so frequently and lived through it, let alone been excited about it. Just thinking about moving again right now gives me the shakes. :)

I'll post some pictures we took down at 'our' lake last weekend. :)

When I went to say good-bye to my next-door neighbor, in central WI, I cried. I told her it felt so weird to be out of my house, with the keys inside. I was sad I wasn't going to be able to watch her new son grow up, and that was 15 years ago, so he almost is grown up, now!

I'm glad Natalie likes her new house!

You didn't hire any movers? When we moved here, we hired movers for the big stuff, but tried to move everything else ourselves. (With the help of some friends, who we paid for their gas and took them out to eat at a nice restaurant.)

Deanna, glad to hear you made it. I think the secret to it being easier to move, is having done it before. We just didn't live in our first home very long, but it was sad to leave the house my children were born into. But after that you do realize what makes a home is not the walls but the people who dwell there. Our hardest move was our last, I hated the house by time it was all said and done, but I left some of the best friends I have ever had.

Glad you survived!
