Do we have Hand, foot, and mouth disease...or what?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2008: Do we have Hand, foot, and mouth disease...or what?
By Pajamakitty on Sunday, August 3, 2008 - 10:32 am:

For a couple mos., I have had kinda itchy, flaky skin on my chin and my lips have been sore and dry and sensitive although I keep something on them @ all times--even when I sleep. I have a white-ish stuff @ the corners of my mouth--it doesn't come off, and isn't raised or anything...I can cover it up with lipstick. The inside of my mouth is also very sensitive--toothpaste and spicy foods KILL me! I have no sores or anything visible INSIDE my mouth. I seem to be a little"drooly" as well. I have nothing going on with my hands or feet. My daughter had a HUGE sore on her gum a couple weeks ago--I assumed it was a canker. Now she has what look like red blisters on her right fingers and her left toes. I'm trying to get us both dr. appts., but in the meantime...any thoughts?

I didn't think it lasted that long..... I would be getting to the doctor pronto though!

hmmm, Yeast/thrush infection? Is there a coating on the tongue?

It does sound like HFMD. Go to Google and do a image search for pictures and see if they resemble what you have going on.

Get in to see the doctor..

Your daughter's sounds like hand foot and mouth, but yours sounds more like yeast to me.

ditto Marcia on the yeast. Your daughter could also just have some kind of contact dermatits. ditto on the doc.
Hope you feel better.
