Does anyone speak Spanish here? I have a question... If your name in Spanish is Giovanna and you go by Gio and Giovanna...would the name take new meaning if a man calls you Giovitta? :)

By Kaye on Friday, July 18, 2008 - 10:12 pm:

typically an ita ending means little. I think names have different rules, but I would take Giovita to mean, little gio, which could be taken as a familiar term, or age, or condescending.

It can be an endearment.
Ame

Ito, does means little. However, when tacked on to the back end of a name it is typically a term of endearment. Papito, is little daddy. Cosita, is little thing. Babito, is little baby boy. Babita, is little baby girl.

Geovita. Would be little Geov.

Depends on how it is said..
