Rough day!!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2008: Rough day!!!
By Crystal915 on Friday, May 2, 2008 - 05:51 pm:

Ok, I just need to vent!! I am having a ROTTEN day! I haven't taken a full day off in 2 weeks, because I need the overtime. I'm single again, as of about 6 weeks ago, but it's all been ok, other than my ex acting a fool and causing me stress every so often. Anyway, I have been working a lot of hours, and under a lot of stress trying to get used to being on my own again. So, I decided I would take the morning off today (my regular day off anyway) and get my hair done. I asked for chunky highlights, and ended up looking frosted. I wasn't happy so she tried to correct it. After the second foil, I am in tears. The stylist is upset, I am upset, and so the owner comes over to help. I ended up getting something closer to what I wanted done by another stylist, have a friend bring me food at the salon because it's been over 4 hours at this point, and another friend was supposed to pick the kids up from school at 3:30. At 3:15 that friend is not answering the phone, and I am FREAKING out. So, we quickly blow out my hair, and I go to pay so I can rush over to school. It's 3:25, and the cashier is taking her sweet time, then tells me $155, when I was expecting $80-90!!! I lose it, start tearing up again, throw down my license and credit card, and tell them I will be back to discuss it, but I have to go get my kids. I get there just as the bell rings, grab the kids, run them to the sitter, and head back to talk to the owner. At this point some of the people who work there are being pretty rude to me, I go into the owner's office, we get it straightened out, she removes some of my charges to make it 90, I pay, tip both stylists and leave. I have a date tonight, it's after 4:00pm, I can't go in and work overtime and still get everything ready and make it to dinner. My stomach hurts from all the stress, I can't eat my (now cold) lunch, my tooth is chipped on the back which has exposed a nerve and is VERY painful, my dentist is out of town until Monday, the house is a mess, the list goes on. I know it seems silly to let a mix up at the salon make my day crappy, but I can't afford to get my hair done often, I really only spent this money because of the tax rebate, and what was supposed to relax me and make me feel better made me feel AWFUL and tense!!! Like ALL I wanted was to feel relaxed and pretty, is that so much to ask?! I'm embarrassed about the whole thing, I don't feel like I should go back there, because they probably all think I'm impossible. There are just not enough hours in the day, and days in the week, I feel like I never rest, and I have a cold to boot!! ARGH!!!!!!! Thanks for letting me vent!!

Grrrr.... it continues, my date is off, and my paycheck was missing ten hours. I think I will go back to bed now.

I hate days like that. It does seem to come in waves, doesn't it?

I hope your weekend improves!

Hugs, Crystal. Your feelings are not silly or petty. You planned and expected a nice relaxing experience. You were cheated. I hope you can relax now, watch a good chick flick and really treat yourself to a relaxing bath or some ice cream. If anybody deserves it, you do.

Ugh.. I'm sorry. I hate those kind of days!

((((hugs))))
Everyone has one of those days. I left the salon once with ORANGE hair because I couldn't stand another hour of them trying to correct their mess. I paid and left.
I am sorry you had such a horrible day. I am glad that your hair is similar to what you wanted. I wouldn't go back because they messed up your hair. How you reacted was normal. I wouldn't give it another thought.
I hope you can salvage your evening!

Awww, girl I wish you lived closer. We'd grab us a pizza, a chick flick, and have a girls night in. I hope your weekend gets better. Hang in there. (((hugs)))

When we lived in Washington State I was working 60 hours a week and decided to get a perm. I figured it would make things easier. I had very long thick hair that was color treated, so I wanted someone who knew what they were doing. I asked several friends and receive two recommendations for this guy. I called and made a consultation appointment. I wanted him to see my hair, and advise me on what would work best. He recommended a new procedure....an air neutralized permanent. He seemed to know what he was talking about, so my next day off, I went in for my perm. My hair was so thick, that he had to piggy back the rods, making two layers of curlers all over my head. He sent me to sit and read a bit, and when he checked my hair again he said it wasn't drying out as fast as he'd planned, and I'd have to go home and sleep on the rods. Still thinking he knew what he was doing, I spent a restless night attempting to sleep with two layers of rods on my head. The next morning, as soon as the shop opened I was there. The hair was still damp, but he started unwinding the curlers. I though it was strange that he sculpted this damp hairdo,(he continually spritzed my hair with water). The tendrils looked good, so I paid him and left. By the time I arrived home, my hair had frizzled into a 24 inch Afro, standing out from my head. The hair itself felt gummy and sticky. I attempted to comb through it at home, and huge clumps of hair came with each stroke. I ended up with less than an inch of hair. I couldn't stop crying. He left town before I could sue him. I stopped payment on my check, but that was little satisfaction for what that idiot did to my head.

I certainly hope you like your hair now, and that your weekend is perfect.

k

Like Yvonne, I once ended up with orangey-brassy hair on about 1/3 of my head once, and the girl was ticked off at ME because I insisted she re-color my hair. SHE wanted me to *wait until next time and color over it then*!

I hope your toothache gets better, and that your weekend is MUCH better.

Thanks ladies, I knew I could come here and you guys would understand!! The night ended up going well, rather than cancel altogether, we changed our plans (original plan was to get dinner and see Iron Man, we didn't feel like being in a seriously packed theater) and all worked out fine.
Bea, I would have lost my mind!!!! That sounds awful, I'm surprised you didn't kill him with your bare hands!!
Karen, this stylist seemed upset with me that I wasn't happy, like how dare I not love the color she decided to put in!!

Bea, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. Yikes!

Crystal, I'm glad you had a good evening.

Oh, Bea! That is the worst hair story I have ever heard!!

Well, on the bright side, I hadn't had short hair for most of my life. It did give me a new look. The shop helped with treatments to moisturize and strengthen what hair was left, and gave me a cute but VERY short cut. I lived. It was only hair. How is your tooth?

I'm glad things turned out a little better. Bea, I couldn't imagine!
