Bathing Suit Woes

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2008: Bathing Suit Woes
By Chai~latte on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 - 07:54 pm:

I've been in the pool twice a week since January and my bathing just disintegrated today. I was in the pool and thinking "The fabric feels a bit weird" and I looked down and of course you could see right through it. I hate this when it happens, swim suits are so expensive and I try to be so careful, I wash it as soon as we get home.

Anyway my oldest is finally in lessons on his own at the same time that I am in the pool with my youngest so thankfully I will only be in the pool once a week. I've been looking for a new suit for ages but today I had to go out and buy a new one, I bought two but combined it cost me $150!!!! I tried finding something at a discount store and have been looking for weeks with no luck.

How do I keep these two new suits from falling apart? Any suggestions?

Are you not washing the chlorine out?
We swim constantly and we always wash our swimsuits. They last much longer that way.

Hmm, i hardly ever wash my suits, unless we've been to the beach and got a lot of sand on them.

Then again I live in Cleveland where you only get to swim maybe 2 months out of the year :(
I'd have to have mine a looong time before it falls apart.

Sorry i have no suggestions for you.

I wash my suit in the washing machine with soap in the delicate cycle as soon as we get home. It's the first thing I do after taking my jacket off. Maybe an extra rinse cycle will help.

That's how I also wash mine Chai~latte - gentle in the washing machine right away, then hang to dry. That's too bad because, yes, suits are SO EXPENSIVE!
