Help with steam cleaners

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2008: Help with steam cleaners

I have a Hoover Steam Vac, and use it almost daily. The last couple of times, it has been foaming, which causes the sensor in the fill tank to trigger, thinking it needs to be empty. This device is great, but the major flaw is an already small tank, and having to empty it when it's 1/3 full is painful!! I know there are commercial anti-foams wherever you can rent steam cleaners, but there is only the Rug Doctor brand, which is ridiculously expensive. Do any of you know of home remedies? TIA!!

I have this steam cleaner:

It works AWESOME!! I've had it for about a year now and I steam clean about every month or two as well as cleaning out my car with it. It has been through a lot and still holds up just like the first time I used it. Best buy ever made! :)

Have you tried cleaning the tank with white vinegar or adding a little white vinegar as a desudsing agent? That might do the trick.
