Vacuum cleaners - again

I know....we've beat this one to death.

Recommendations????? Brand to avoid? I HAVE to get a new one, the dog hair is driving me nuts.

By Kaye on Sunday, March 9, 2008 - 08:50 am:

Okay well I bought on of those bissels, and HATE IT! It just can't keep up with the dog hair. So I talked with two different vacuum men. In general your bagged varieties are just going to have better suction period according to both of them. If you have to bagless, you have to have cyclonic action to not get clogged. Both people I talked to had a version of each.

However I owned a sharp bagged vacuum, it ran about 200 and it was the best vac I have ever ever had.

For pet hair problems...Dyson Aminal DC14 is what I have and I would buy it again. I LOVE it!! At this point in time, I will never be without a Dyson. I have tried many different brands in the past, some even more expensive than my Dyson and nothing has ever impressed me as much as this thing!

I have a Dyson as well. It does work good, honestly though, I dont think it is worth the money.

I swear by my Dyson. Everyone in my family has a Dyson now. My mom watched the kids for a week last year, used my vacuum, and then bought one for herself. When my brother and SIL moved into their new house, she bought them one. I was shocked the first time I used my Dyson, how much stuff came out of my carpet, and I had just vacuumed the day before with my old one.

Dyson Animal. It's so worth the money.

Dyson Animal, me too, me too. I LOVE it.. It does an awesome job... I have had many different brands and the Dyson has my vote hands down. I too had vacuumed the day before I bought my Dyson, I was shocked with what it picked up.. Yes they are pricey but mine is over a year old and works as good as the day I got it... So worth the money, for sure..

Dyson! I have an Animal, either the DC14 or DC17, I'm not sure which, and LOVE it for animal hair (3 cats, 1 dog, 2 children) it's awesome!! If I hadn't bought that one, I would have liked a canister, and although expensive, I hear Oreck is fabulous.

By Karen~admin on Monday, March 10, 2008 - 12:04 pm:

Thanks. I did some research on the Dysons and the thing that concerns me is that apparently there are *repair issues* with them. They are now offering a 5 year warranty though.

Another one that was highly rated was a Kenmore vacuum, but I've never seen one.

I really want a bagless vacuum. And I REALLY want one that sucks well! LOL

Dyson, I have never had an issue with mine and it does have the warranty.

I love my Oreck. I bought it after a friend raved about it. You can try it out and return it if you aren't happy. The people in the store are very helpful. I have the car vac and the small canister as well.

I'm looking at getting a new vacuum and would love to pick up a Dyson. I hate the idea of paying retail for it, though. Any idea where I can get a good deal on one, refurbished or an online deal?

By Imamommyx4 on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 - 10:54 am:

Dyson Animal--LLLLLLOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE it!

Home Depot and Lowe's have them refurbished sometimes. We got ours refurbished but with warranty for $125 less at Home Depot a couple of years ago. Also, when they change styles the older styles still on the shelf will go for less.

Cori, I bought mine when they were first displaying the new models, and had a couple leftover of the previous year's models. It got me a nice discount, and I still can't tell the difference between the two models!! You know how I feel about paying retail, so I lucked out that I didn't have to wait long to find a discounted model! I did check out refurbished ones online, but I paid about the same (adding shipping to the refurbs) to buy one new, and saved time and shipping costs. You might find the opposite, because of higher retail prices in CA, and I also got mine at the PX on post. Good luck!
