Girlscout cookies-not just for humans

My daughter is selling girlscout cookies. We have delivered 99% of them. I had 2 sitting aside that one of my neighbors ordered. The problem was that we could never catch him at home. We saw his car, and I went to grab the cookies. BUT... I couldnt find one box. I "knew" I had put them aside, and I knew exactly where it was. They were the peanutbutter cream ones called "Do si dos".. My family does not like those, so I did not fear any of my kids or husband ate them.
My husband helped me looked for them he stated "Well they just didnt walk away"..he joked the dogs must of ate them..Sure enough, we picked up one of the doggie blankets, and there was a box with the top ripped off, and the celephane wrapper laying there.
I have 5 dogs here at the moment(My 3 and 2 customers)
Iam not sure if they shared the box of cookies among the 5 dogs, or one got the majority.

Lucky it was only the peanutbutter cream ones, not chocolate. None of the dogs were sick at all.

Lesson learned, keep even the unopened box of girlscout cookies far from the dogs reach :)

ROFL My dog ate a pacifier this morning. If I leave one out overnight the cat will steal it. I must have left one out last night, the cat played with it for a bit and left it on the floor for the dog to find. Oh, the joys of fur-babies.

I'm glad your doggies aren't sick. :)

That's funny. I'm glad none of them got sick.

We left out the Halloween candy and out of the assortment left in the bowl, Jasmine only went for the Reese's peanut butter cups! LOL! So, yeah, she got some chocolate. She never suffered any ill effects after that, though. We hid the candy after that, though.

I don't think Jasmine ever bothered the Girl Scout cookies. Neither did Honey. I LOVE Do-si-dos! (Or Savannahs, as they were called when I was a kid.)

Chowdo ate an entire chocolate cake once. She didn't get sick.
It was my birthday cake. Hubby bought it for me. We went out to dinner and came home for dessert.
It took us a while to figure out where the cake was. LOL.

Max my poodle (when I was a kid) climbed on the table the day after valentines day and at a 1lb heart shaped box of chocolate turtles that my dad bought for my mom.. he didn't even act like he ate too much.. My mom was so scared it was going to make him sick or kill him...

Hi! This is my first post on this account!

Chocolate toxicity in dogs varies largely with the type of chocolate consumed. Methylxanthines, which include theobromine and caffeine, are the toxic ingredients in chocolate. Here's a nifty chart, straight out of Merck's Vet:

methylxanthine content of chocolate products:

cocoa powder: 28.5 milligrams per gram
unsweetened (baker's) chocolate: 16 mg/g
unrefined cocoa beans: 9.1 mg/g
sweetened chocolate: 2.3 - 5.7 mg/g

Acute toxicity in dogs occurs at a level of 100 - 200 mg per kilo; that is to say, a 20 kilo dog will become acutely sick after eating 2000 - 4000 milligrams of methylxanthines (about 500 grams of sweet chocolate). However, more mild forms of toxicity can occur at much lower doses. One ounce of sweetened chocolate per pound of body weight is potentially lethal.
