Another Disney question

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2008: Another Disney question
By Reds9298 on Monday, March 3, 2008 - 03:29 pm:

DH and I have always done Disney at the very tail end of Nov. or first week in Dec. It's DEAD then and we love it, also it's value season at that time so cheaper. Anyway, we're thinking of going the last week-ish of April or very first week in May.

I'm worried about the crowds. :( Anyone been there around both times of year and can compare the two, crowd-wise?
TIA:)

I'm hoping it won't be awful, since school still isn't out but Spring Break will be over.

The first time I went was the first week of may. There were people there, but it wasn't crazy. We are headed there during spring break, I am a little scared of the crowds!

I think this is a great time to go. It isn't "dead", but definitely very manageable. Also, the weather is usually very nice. Warm - mid 80's during the day, and then 70's at night.

We have been both in the beginning of December, and beginning of May. December is less crowded, but May is nothing like summer or holiday months. We just went in October, which I think is pretty comparable to May. We went early, and had no lines. It did get a little crowded in the afternoons, and then thinned out at night. I don't think we waited more then 20-30 minutes for a ride. But, most were around 10 minute waits.

Thank you for the info - that's very helpful! On our December trips, we waited no more than 10 min. usually, except for a couple of major rides which we fast-passed. Most rides we just walked on in December, so I was wondering. The only long ride then was Test Track (love it!) and DH worked for GM so we got unlimited walk-ons and the VIP lounge. :)

The week before and after Easter is AWFUL!!!!!!
We went to the Magic Kingdom the Tuesday before Easter 4 years ago. We got there at 10ish. They closed the park at 10:30 am to anyone not staying on site. Ride lines were 2 and 3 hours long. We were only able to get 3 Fast Passes for the whole day. It was absolutely awful. DD was 3 at the time.

Deanna-I don't know about when you are going. But Kaye mentioned Spring Break. Kaye--beware.

I went the first of June one time. We went the first day like Thursday, June 11 and was great. We walked on to every ride. Then went back the next day and could hardly move for the crowds. Somebody in the park told me that it was the official season opener or something like that. I didn't get it. But that was like 20 years ago or more.

We're thinking of last week in April or first week in May. Spring Break is a NIGHTMARE - BTDT when I was younger. Sorry Kaye, but it really was. :(

Thanks ladies! I'm thinking it won't be terrible, but I've never paid anything but Value season prices. :( I'll have to check on it. We've a bit of a crazy situation in our family, but we're still thinking of taking our vacation then instead of in Dec. as originally planned. We probably won't decide for sure until a month before. Thanks again!
