Rude Teens

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2008: Rude Teens
By Debbie on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 10:18 pm:

Dh and I took our two boys to see the Spiderwick Chronicles tonight. Four young teens, 2 boys and 2 girls, sat right behind us. They talked the ENTIRE movie. Dh turned around and asked them to be quiet, I asked them twice to be quiet, and the people behind them asked them twice. Finally, near the end, I turned around, and told them they were the rudest kids I had ever sat by. They still continued to talk. I should have gotten the manager after the first time we asked.

They were standing outside when we walked out, probably waiting for a ride. I told them they were some of the rudest kids I had ever met, that they ruined the movie for everyone around them, and they should be ashamed of themselves. The two boys apologized, but the girls, the main talkers, just looked at me with a blank look.

I know that sometimes teen get carried away. But, when you have been told over and over to please be quiet, that is just down right rude.

Rude teens and people bringing babies...2 things that ruin a movie.

I can't believe the nerve. Why even go to a movie?

I'm sorry. I think I would have gone out and told a manager. In our case, we know the manager, since he used to work at the newspaper, with my husband.

Maybe the manager would have asked them to leave, if they couldn't be quiet.

Something similar happened when my dh and I went out on a much needed date to see a flamenco performance. The culprits weren't just teenagers, though. It was their mother as well. They kept walking in and out of our row and in the row in front of us after the lights were off for the performance. I was livid! They are lucky my dh restrained me because I missed A LOT of the performance because someone's head or tush were constantly in my way! These were acclaimed dancers all the way from Spain.

ARRRGH! Ok, I feel better.

I would have (and have) complained to a manager. Movies cost so much $ these days. There is no way I am going to deal with talkers all the way through one.
When I complained the talkers were informed that if they could not be quiet they needed to leave. They chose to leave. The manager also gave me a free pass to another movie. I was just thrilled to have the talkers gone.
