AAHHH!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2008: AAHHH!!
By Colette on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 06:28 am:

We are getting MORE SNOW! We have a "heavy snow warning". The weathermen are saying this is the most snow we've gotten since 1850 something. I don't think I am ever, ever, ever going to see grass again.

By Trina~moderator on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 06:51 am:

Same here. Argh! smileysnow

By Angellew on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 09:08 am:

I am so over this whole winter thing, it isn't even funny!! Plus... it is 5 degrees out!!!

By Cat on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 09:10 am:

Sorry. :( We're supposed to be in the 50's today and tomorrow and then get snow on Sunday. Stay safe and warm!

By Karen~admin on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 09:59 am:

Is it *normal* to get so much snow, so late in the season??

By Dawnk777 on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 10:53 am:

Karen, this has been anything but a normal winter, the whole season! We can get snow all through March and into April. We've been known to get a dusting, even in May, but that is RARE! In April of 1973, Port Washington, WI got 15 inches of snow and I missed two days of school!

From
Milwaukee/Sullivan Weather Station:

Snowstorm 1973 - April 8-9, 1973. South half of state. 10 to 20 inches of heavy, wet snow. Wind gusts to 50 mph. Many roads, including the interstates, were closed for 2 days. Thunderstorms accompanied the snow, with snowfall rates peaking at 2-3 inches per hour at the height of the storm.

Karen, winter is far from over, for those of us, in WI. I've missed days of school in March! With March snowstorms, the snow doesn't hang around as long, though, since the days are longer and warmer.

Speaking of snow, we got 3-4 inches last night, ourselves! Our latest total on snow, had been 77 inches for the season, so now, I'm guessing it's 80-81.

From newspaper of 2-18-08:

With Monday’s snow of almost three inches, the season’s total rose to 76 inches and moved into the No. 6 spot, only 1½ inches behind 1961-62. First place (94 inches, 1904-05) seems safe — for now, anyway.

So, yeah, I'm sure we've beat that record now! (the one from 61-62)

The only reason I am looking forward to the snow, is to get out and take some snow photos with the kids! I realized I have not scrapped any for this year. LOL So, take up scrapbooking...it makes the snow not so bad! Spring is so close! Just think how soon after Easter it starts to warm up! (I'm trying to be positive--did it work? lol)

By Eve on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 11:43 am:

Oh yeah, Karen, we have gotten snow in April. LOL It will be warm for a few days and then it could snow and then it will warm up and melt. They say in New England, don't blink, the weather might change. ;)

By Colette on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 12:04 pm:

I wouldn't mind getting the snow now, it's just that the whole fr*ggin season started before Christmas - when it doesn't usually get like this til Jan/Feb. I haven't seen grass since early december. Usually we will get the snow, but at least some melting will occur between storms. This is ridiculous!

By Karen~admin on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 03:33 pm:

All I can say is........WOW!

By Dawnk777 on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 04:40 pm:

We had snow, then it melted and we had grass, right before the 16.5 inches on 2-6-08!

A more usual season will only give us 41 inches of snow! LOL!

By Mrsheidi on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 05:00 pm:

It's in the 60's today out here in CO! It's been like this for over a week! :) We'll send some warm weather your way!!!

By Colette on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 05:21 pm:

Oh Heidi, don't say that, dh is dying for me to move out there but despite this crappy weather I won't leave New England.

By Tonya on Saturday, March 1, 2008 - 11:43 am:

Snow here too. I have had enough as well. It so needs to be spring!!!!!

By Tonya on Saturday, March 1, 2008 - 11:43 am:

1,1

By Cat on Saturday, March 1, 2008 - 03:32 pm:

Enjoy the warm weather today, Heidi, because it's supposed to be cold and snowy tomorrow! lol Gotta love Colorado weather.

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, March 2, 2008 - 11:04 am:

40's today! I went to church, with just my fleece and left the winter jacket at home! It is shortlived, though, the rest of the week is supposed to be cold. :(

By Debbie on Sunday, March 2, 2008 - 11:12 am:

We were sunny, and mid 70's yesterday, today we are 60's and REALLY windy(40-50 mph), tomorrow 30's and snow!! Oklahoma weather, it's crazy

By Colette on Sunday, March 2, 2008 - 11:19 am:

We didn't get as much snow as they forcasted and it's supposed to be sunny and in the 40's the next few days, so hopefully we will start to see some melting.

18 days til spring!
