Update if you want to read LOL

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2008: Update if you want to read LOL
By Karen~admin on Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 10:17 am:

I know I've probably bored you guys with details, just wanted to give a brief update.

I was casted on Wednesday even though I still had a lot of swelling. It's going down during the day, but back up overnight. Once it stays down, I have to be re-casted. I have a bright pink cast right now and wasn't exactly planning on going to Vegas with DH on his business trip with it. I was thinking khaki or black might work better. LOL

I am up and around and feeling stronger and doing small things around the house. However, I'm also trying to use those fingers to type and other stuff, and it's made it hurt a lot more the past 2 days - in fact, it's hurt more than it has since last weekend, so today (after I am done on the board! LOL) I'm not going on the keyboard anymore.

I have trouble tying shoes, and sweatpants (since I can't manage jeans right now), and once the weather warms and stays warm, I don't know what I'm going to wear. :-) Shorts, I guess, but that requires shaving legs, which is a whole other scenario. LOL

The plus side to this is I am catching up on a lot of much-needed sleep and relaxing - something I have not done in many years. The down side is, I have BTDT before - in 2006 when I had surgery on my right hand - and I'm tired of this already and still have the rehab/therapy to go through - AND I still have the other hand to do. So I'm not a particularly good patient because I'm frustrated and hate the cast and know what's coming next and just want it to be over.

I went to the grocery with DH yesterday, my first outing in 2+weeks that wasn't to the doctor or hospital. Even I had to admit it wore me out but I felt more like *me* being able to get out finally!!

Thanks again for all the well wishes. I'm trying to respond to more threads, but am going to have to limit myself to a small amount of time per day to do that right now.

{{{Karen}}} Hang in there! I know an electric razor won't get as close a shave, but that might be easier to handle. If that's not do-able, would Hal be able to handle the job? (LMBO just imagining Mike shaving my legs. LOL!) Take it easy and try to enjoy the down time. More {{{HUGS}}}

NOOOOOOOOO! LOL

BTW, have you scheduled your surgery????

By Trina~moderator on Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 01:08 pm:

Yes, April 4th. I was hoping for early March, but it didn't work out that way.

Karen, it just all sounds so hard! If my right hand was laid up, I would have a hard time, in the bathroom. My right hand is really so much better at some personal tasks.

Hang in there!

You too, Trina!

By Karen~admin on Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 03:48 pm:

Dawn, the right hand is *next*. This time there were 2 things done to my left hand; there will be 3 things on the right hand. BUT I'm waiting to see how this thumb thing turns out on the left hand first, before I let them try it on the right hand - I'm right hand dominant.

Trina, who is going to help out with the kids when you have your surgery??

By Claire on Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 04:18 pm:

(((((((Karen)))))))

My parents will be coming to stay with us. I'm hoping I won't be out of commission for long.

I hope you feel better soon. No advice on the shaving. There is no way I would let my DH near me with a razor.

Hang in there Karen! Would you consider hair removal cream? I just picked up some sensitive Nad hair removal cream and a neutralizer wash for afterwards for my sensitive skin. I normally use a razor but am getting alot of bumps. I'll let you know how it is if you're interestd.

Hey Karen (and Trina too) I've missed so much, but it doesn't sound good for either of you. I am guessing carpol tunnel for Karen and female stuff for Trina?

Don't reply, Karen, I'm sure I will find the thread somewhere or someone else will type it out here.

Either way, hope you guys heal soon and good luck on the upcoming surgeries for both.
