Need iPod Help!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2008: Need iPod Help!!
By Livvy on Saturday, February 2, 2008 - 12:21 pm:

My DD is turning 10. I think she has decided on an iPod classic for her bday. I am so not techie so I wondered if someone could help me out. My big concern is downloading songs and videos. We have dial-up(can't get high-speed in our remote area) and I am concerned that any downloads she wants are going to take forever(or maybe not even be able to do.) Is his a valid concern or do they not really take that long?

Also, I know nothing about the whole iPod scene so any other info that I might need to know about an iPod would be much appreciated! TIA!! :)

Boy, I don't know. We have cable internet and they download really fast, but then again, everything does. I am sure there has to be someone here who has dial up that uses an ipod though! How old is your computer? Do other things you download take a long time?

The computer (laptop) is just over a year old. DH hates to use the computer because it is slow compared to what he has at work. That is because of dial-up. I am always so amazed when I get the chance to use a someone else's computer that has high-speed. Ours is definitley a turtle compared to high-speed!!

Songs will take a little longer, but not THAT much longer. We downloaded music, before we had broadband. Also, you can import music, from cds that you already own, too.

Not sure about how long it takes to d/l with dial-up, as I have cable. However, I have imported music from all of my CD's and with over 600 songs on my Ipod, it *did* take a while. Downloading from Itunes didn't take long at all, for me.
