When is Groundhog News Coverage?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2008: When is Groundhog News Coverage?
By Kate on Friday, February 1, 2008 - 12:10 pm:

My DD's first grade teacher told all the kids that if they get up early they can see the groundhog see or not see his shadow. You wouldn't believe the problem that statement has caused....DD INSISTS on getting up in the middle of the night so she does not miss it. She's in tears over this since we informed her that she will NOT be getting up at 3:00 AM, NOR will the groundhog!!

Now, I have no clue about this stuff, having no interest, so WHAT happens and WHEN do you see news coverage on it? I see that Good Morning America and Today are on at 7:00 AM tomorrow (still WAY too early on our ONLY sleep in day!!). Will those two shows have it? Does anyone know what time the people drag the poor rodent out of his burrow and film him? When do they show this story and do they show it all day long? Thanks!

The sun has to be up, because he has to be able to see his shadow...or not.

Live Webcast of Punxsutawney Phil at Gobbler's Knob, in Pennsylvania.

They have a webcast that starts at 7am eastern time, which would be 6am central time for me. I'm not getting up that early! LOL!

I could be the Today Show would have some coverage!

Well, shucks, seems Phil says 6 more weeks of winter.

Yeap, that's what I saw, too. Trust me, it could stop snowing anytime. Every other day, it seems we have another inch or two to shovel.

Wiarton Willie, here in Ontario, disagreed. I hope he was right!!
