Wii workout!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2008: Wii workout!!

We finally got the Wii, and the Wii sports games are a workout!! The boxing and the baseball can get you working up a sweat. I wonder if they have or will have some kind of game that is meant to be a workout, like Brain Age for your body. Anyone else enjoying their Wii? Maybe one day there will be a "Jared from Subway" for the Nintendo Wii, like "I lost 100 lbs by playing my Wii for 45 minutes each day!!" LOL

lol crystal there probably already is seriously i guess there are a bunch of people that have lost weight on the dance dance revolution ... = ) i was hopeing to get a wii but right now i'm not really activiley trying to get one because we don't have the money at this point maybe with our tax check? lol

Crystal, they are supposed to release a workout game sometime soon!

That boxing feels like a total workout! The morning after the first day we got it, I woke up so sore and could not figure out why. I hadn't done anything. Then my son wanted me to bowl with him, so I said yes, and as soon as I pulled my arm back, I KNEW why I was so sore! LOL! I said how pathetic is it to get sore from playing a video game!!!

That's better than getting chubby from sitting on the couch all the time playing video games. :)

We have a Wii too and the day after Christmas my arms were So sore from the bowling, ddr and the hannah montana game my dd got! I'm using the DDR as my workout, it does have a workout mode. I don't really work up a sweat doing it though. I'm not good enough yet to really move fast with it.
It's so much fun though!

The boxing is the killer for me. Wonder if dd would like the dance revolution? Sounds like that would be a fun work out!!

I really want to get DDR for the girls but I know I'd love it too! Tennis is what has left me sore. My shoulders and back get such a workout from it. I didn't know there was going to be a workout game coming out but I think it's brilliant. I've read that some retirement centers are using Wii Sports to keep the residents active since it's so low-impact and many of them like to play with their grandkids. What a neat way to form a bond with younger generations!:)

One of the ladies I work with has a mother in a retirement home/nursing home and they actually have a bowling league for the residents. A lot of the people in there now were in leagues when they were younger and it is making them feel a lot better about themselves. I think that is an awesome idea. I also was sore when we first got our wii at christmas. My dd is dying to have guitar hero 3.. I have it preordered but it won't be here until like the 1st of march.

Maybe i will look into DDR and see if I can get that for them for Valentines day or something.

I looked it up and it will be called Wii Fit. It has already been released in Japan and says it will be released here in early 2008. Some are saying May, but I'm not sure there is an official date yet.

It comes with some type of board you stand on that supports up to 299 lbs. It has different workouts including yoga and such and also has games. If you go to amazon, you can look up wii fit and it shows different pictures of screen shots. It shows a hula hooping, soccer, and yoga. It also adds a channel to your wii where you can track your bmi and other things. There is a video on amazon, but right now it isn't working. Looks pretty cool, though...

I tried several times to make the link work, but it would only take you to an amazon page stating to go through the home page...

I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I wasn't sore after playing the first time, but from boxing last night my back and arm hurt. LOL!

We have a ddr, there is actually a workout mode. My daughter loves it. We have two mats and she often dances with friends (and me on occasion).

I am laughing about being sore :)
