I have posted before about the problems with my kids room about when it rains the wall get wet and it has caused the room to be wet and the meldew well we were waiting on the insurance guy to come out well he was suppose to be here Friday the 11th we waited and no show well dh calls insurance office to find out that he went on vacation and that they would be sending out a stand by adjuster so we waited all last week no one showed up so we called today and he said I will be out there at 4 well 3:00 he shows up right before I get kiddos from school. He walks into the kids room and says well you got water damage okay duhh so he goes outside and says well its caused by standing water sorry we can't help. I asked him how can it be standing water when there is no water what so ever on the ground and were the water damage is its about 8-12 in off the ground he says well its more than likely caused by the rain. Our insurance guy who sits in the office and does nothing had said that if it was caused by rain it more than likly would be covered and I had told the adjuster that and he said well its caused by the standing water caused by the rain. By this time I was upset and I just kept my mouth shut. He says sorry but it shouldn't be to expensive to fix and I said no its going to be expensive we had a contrator come out and give us a quote and it was going to cost us around $4000.00 to which he says thats not to bad and I said well it it to a person who doesnt have the money. hubby came home at that time and the guy tells him everything and all hubby says is okay. I got upset and started to cry because the kids kinda in lingo one sleeps on a mattress in one sisters room and the other in the other sisters room and it don't seem to bother hubby and I told him that and that I had told him almost a year ago that it looked like there might be some water damage in the room. He did nothing about it. Sorry for so long I am really upset with this all

Gaaaah! How frustrating! I'm sorry they kept you waiting like that only to tell you they won't help. :(

I'm wondering if you can do something less expensively. You might Google "French drains" and see if this is something that would help divert the rain water. That is, if your husband would be likely to do the digging. It's what my neighbors did to keep water out of their basement.

A friend of mine got rid of black mold on walls with bleach. But I'd look that up ,too, before trying it.

I understand why you're upset.

When will your adjuster be back from vacation I would call and speak with that person then I would call a contractor and have them come out and look to see how the damage is caused and have them right it up. take that to the insurance company. Keep fighting it. Be persistant. The will see you are not going to back down and maybe just maybe they might still be able to help you.

I agree to try and fight it. It makes you wonder what you pay insurance for sometimes when it seems like their job is to do everything possible to not help.
