What are your plans??

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2007: What are your plans??
By Dramamamma on Sunday, December 23, 2007 - 09:55 pm:

What are your plans for the next couple of days?

I'm at work tonight, I'll get off at 7:00 in the morning and go home to sleep. I plan to sleep until about noon then go to mom's house to help her with the cooking. My dad and his crew along with my sister and her family will be at mom's house at 4pm for Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange.

After all the festivities are over with and everyone leaves, mom, younger sister and I will take Brendan out for a little bit to look at Christmas lights before Brendan and I will head home. Christmas morning will just be Brendan and I but mom and youngest sister will come over because Santa is leaving them stockings at our house.

Later on Brendan will go to his dad's house and he'll be there until Friday, that will work out well because I work Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Well, today, we had Christmas dinner with my parents. They came to our house, and I baked a ham. We also exchanged our gifts with them. We used to do this on Christmas Day, but a couple of years ago, I decided I really would rather not to have to jump up shortly after opening gifts to start a hectic day of cooking a big meal and cleaning. So now, my parents come to our house on the Day before Christmas Eve, and there is no rush. It's very pleasant.

Tomorrow afternoon we go to my extended family's house to exchange gifts and after we finish there we head to my in-laws to have dinner and exchange gifts. It's a very hectic day!

On Christmas, we're on our own. It's very nice to hang out in our pajamas all day long on Christmas and play with our new "toys" without having to worry about any kind of schedule. The kids love having a day uninterrupted to play with all of their new things.

I'm kind of looking forward to next year when we will live in a different state and we'll have nothing to do except get together with my parents and sister, and possibly my husband's sister. I know that sounds kind of harsh, but they're the family that I truly enjoy spending special times with.

Frosting cookies shortly, making lasagna tomorrow, going to church, eating lasagna, making jello for SIL's house, making blueberry french toast for our breakfast on Christmas morning, and watching The Twelve Dogs of Christmas video. On Christmas Day, baking french toast, making mulled apple cider, eating breakfast, opening presents, and finally getting ready to go my in-laws.

At the in-laws, lots of appetizers, supper, presents, and dessert! Lots of food and lots of fun!

Next weekend, we go to Door County (thumb of WI), to meet with my family and stay one night in a hotel.

Our big family Christmas celebration is on Christmas Eve. We'll have my mom and step-dad, sister and her fiance and his parents, my brother, his wife and their two kids, my father-in-law, his wife, her mom and her son and our family. It'll be a house full! We'll have an Italian dinner this year and finger foods and lots of baked goodies. We open all our family gifts to each other tomorrow and then everyone heads home to sleep.

On Christmas morning, the kids open their stockings and then we'll head to my mom's house for Christmas brunch. We'll come home to nap and clean up and then go to my in-laws for dinner with their families. When we leave there, we go to a neighborhood that is a little "Christmas lights crazy" and walk around there before heading home and ending our Christmas.

I'm working, so no real plans, we'll celebrate when they get back next month.

We celebrate this afternoon with DH's parents, at their house. Open gifts and dinner there. Then we'll come home, read the Night Before Christmas, set out the cookies and milk, and dd is off to bed.

Christmas morning is just us at the house all day. It's wonderful. :)

We have our 14 year old's birth parents for Christmas Eve every year. We have a full Christmas dinner, then off to church.

Tomorrow morning my family, about 26 of us, will have brunch at my sister's place. We will all have done the Santa thing at our own homes before that. Some of them will go to in-law's for dinner, and I think 16 of us will eat at my place. I love it all! :)

We did Christmas with my parents and sister last week since my nephews weren't going to be in town. We are going to my grandma's house tonight for a little while, then to some friends for a party. Tomorrow, it's Christmas morning with the kids, then off to my MIL's for the rest of the day. Today I'm getting wrapping and baking done, and can you believe I have a hair appointment, LOL?! I *SO* should not be sitting at this computer!!

Merry Christmas! :)

Today dh and I are headed out to find a double boiler so we can make Amaretto Fudge tonight. We'll probably watch a movie at home and put the gifts from Santa out either really late tonight or early tomorrow morning. We've caught Robin up at around midnight before opening presents and then trying to rewrap them, so we've got to be sneaky! lol The kids know there's no Santa now so we wrap those gifts, too (didn't use to). Tomorrow morning around 7ish we'll unwrap gifts. Dh invited a friend over who's husband is a contractor in the middle east so she'll eat Christmas Dinner with us tomorrow afternoon. No family close so no family dinners or gift exchanges to worry about. We mailed gifts a couple weeks ago and our families will open them tomorrow morning with the rest of their gifts. Dh and I both have to work Wed-Fri, but I may hit Wal-Mart early Wed morning before kids get here to stock up on wrapping paper for the next several years. lol Really--I haven't bought wrapping paper in like 8 years because I stocked up during after Christmas sales! lol The two kids I have Wed don't come until 8:30 so I'll have time. :)

Callie is at work. The girls are at their adopted Grandparents house for their celebration. The rest of us are laying around, it is over cast out and a sleepy type of day.

Tonight we will all load up and run around town picking up Callie and the girls and then we will head into our Advent Service at church. Come home, open a gift and watch the Santa Clause. Tomorrow, Rob and the kids will make dinner and we will likely just lounge around. No real plans, just the way I like it.

We had a thing at my sisters Thursday and Saturday we went to my Grandparents.

We had dh's family over yesterday, tonight at my side of the family and then just us home tomorrow! I think this is the first year in ages we don't have anyone scheduled to come over tomorrow. I am looking forward to laying around in jammies and making dinner when we want rather than when someone is supposed to be here!!
