Need Webkinz/Club Penguin Info

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2008: Need Webkinz/Club Penguin Info
By Kate on Saturday, December 22, 2007 - 06:19 pm:

Okay, my girls go to Club Penguin. Club Penguin is adorable, BUT....the server is SO SLOW that we find it incredibly frustrating. Is the Webkinz site slow, too?? Once you buy the toy, are there any fees or memberships you need to buy to enter the Webkinz site?? Since they love Club Penguin so much I thought they'd like Webkinz, but I won't buy them if the site is slow to load. Any advice/info would be great! Thanks! Oh, where do you BUY a Webkinz and how much do they cost?

By Luvn29 on Saturday, December 22, 2007 - 06:55 pm:

Well, I agree about the Penguin Website being sooo slow. I just bought webkinz for the kids to go in their stockings from Santa, so we'll see how that goes...hopefully better. And as far as I know, you don't have to pay anything for a year.

I bought the webkinz off of eBay. The woman shipped that very same day, and you pay shipping for one of them and get free shipping for any others you buy the same day. And her shipping was very decently priced. If you decide you are interested, check out eBay. And if you want, I'll give you her user name. It's important to make sure you can trust the user to send one with a code that hasn't been used yet.

Hi. I bought Webkinz toy a few days ago and my kids looove to play the games on the website. It does not take us so long for loading. As far as I know there is no need to pay anything for memberships or something.
And this will not be any advice for you but it cost USD40 for us to get it on yahoo japan auction. LOL

By Wahoo on Saturday, December 22, 2007 - 07:09 pm:

Now I tried to open Webkinz web site, it DOES take a long time to open it and is so frustrating to me,too. I think that is because everyone in your time zone is accessing to it. Whenever we open it is our afternoon and it is your midnight. It makes us go through it so quickly.

By Debbie on Saturday, December 22, 2007 - 10:51 pm:

Do you have dial up, or something else? I have DSL and we haven't had any problems with it being slow. The webkinz cost around $15.00. We have gotten them at Halmark and Walgreens.

I have heard good things about Club Penguin, but we have never gone on the website.

Webkinz are sold at several stores, any type of Hallmark Store, JcPenneys, I have seen them at the Limited Too store, I think I even saw an advertisement for them at Target last week. They are a round $12-$15 depending on the store. You do not need to purchase anything else to be able to play on the website. Just do not throw away the tag! You need the tag to put the code in on the computer, once you put that code on then the kid will name the webkinz and make up a username and password. And that's all you have to do. Then everytime they want to play they just sign on and play. It's cute, my kids love them.

I saw them in Target and Walgreens a couple of days ago.
Most of the time I have no problems with slowness. We play alot. I'm addicted. BTW, that's where I'm headed now. :)

By Kaseys on Sunday, December 23, 2007 - 11:01 pm:

I think that the Webkinz is good for a year and then you have to buy another one for your current one to be active, and then you have two.. Does that make sense?? LOL But you have a full year before that.. Hope that helps..

By Wahoo on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 05:42 am:

Hi,Imamommyx4! Now I am addicted to it,too. Thanks for your help, we finally got one.I love cash cow game. (^o^)

By Colette on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 07:54 am:

You can get webkinz in many stores now, drug stores, toy stores, but mostly at Halmark stores. They are $10 for the little ones and $12 for the regular ones.

By Tink on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 - 12:28 pm:

Has anyone had trouble with a new animal's code already being registered? My kids each received one for Christmas and all of their codes are coming up as already used. We bought these new at Target and the chances of them all being registered seems a little doubtful. We've started an inquiry through the Webkinz site so I hope it ends well but I'm wondering if this is a common problem.

By Imamommyx4 on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 - 10:41 pm:

I have not had any problems with any of our codes. Dd has 9 now mostly given to her as gifts. Would like to know how it turns out for you though.

By Wahoo on Thursday, December 27, 2007 - 04:05 am:

We have not had any trouble with our codes, too. I hope my kids can meet your kids in webkinz website very soon.!!

By Rayelle on Thursday, December 27, 2007 - 07:39 pm:

Tink I have heard about problems like that on another forum about the codes. I don't know what the result was, so I'm not any help. My dks are big into club penguin. They get very excited when new stuff comes out. We pay for their membership as their allowance for chores etc. $6 a month won't buy much at the store but they are very happy with the membership and I can cancel it for one month at a time if need be if they don't do what they are supposed to.

By Lieska on Thursday, January 3, 2008 - 11:34 am:

I had a problem with the code for a Shining Star and they emailed me a new one very easily and quickly. We are huge Webkinz fans here so I hope you post again to see how they respond. I think they are still swamped from Christmas so they may take awhile to respond.

By Tink on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 - 12:02 am:

Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh! I finally got an email back stating that all accounts that the website had technical difficulties with had been activated and were available for use. Both of my younger dks' accounts are fine but my oldest (and of course the one most excited about webkinz) is still having trouble. Her code is coming up used, her username and password isn't showing up in their system and it says her log-in information doesn't match what they have in their system. Of course, I can't find any way to contact someone to get this taken care of without going through their automated response emails! I'm so frustrated and I know I can just go buy a new one but I've got my teeth into this problem now and I can't let go!!!

By Kate on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 - 08:52 am:

Well I've tried both places now, and I don't really like Webkinz. The girls became members of Club Penguin. CP is more 'hip' for older kids, IMO, and Webkinz is more cutesy for younger kids. A friend swears by Webkinz and totally disagrees with me, but while Webkinz may actually have some challenging games and activities for older kids, the LOOK of it can be a turn off for the older ones IMO. And I found Webkinz very hard to navigate and figure out. Thanks for the advice! Good luck, Tink....that's so frustrating!!

By Lieska on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 - 12:28 am:

Tink, I'm not sure what to you tell you to do. Have you tried going thru Target? I would also email Webkinz daily. It is soooooo frustrating not to get thru to a real person I know!!!

We have about 30 of them and we have never had a problem... yet. We have been addicts for over a year when they fisrt came out. Now they are so big and populated. Anyway with the exception of Christmas day the website has always been fast and easy for us.

My DD is having a webkinz birthday party next month. WE LOVE webkinz LOLOLOL :)

By Wahoo on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 - 04:30 am:

Hi,Lieska. You have 30 webkinz now?? Could you check out your email box? I sent you one asking you a favor about webkinz.

By Lieska on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 - 11:37 am:

Hi Wahoo, I got your email. I'm in California are you 6 hours behind me? We do have a lot but it's because my kids have gotten them for birthdays from friends. I have three kids that have 12 or 13 each and then they bought my two year old one for Christmas. We do have the spotted frog. We also have the tree frog lil' kinz. I think that one is my favorite.

Also because they have a lot, my children took it upon themselves to open more than one account. They have 2 each and then a joint one. It's crazy LOL :)

By Livvy on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 - 06:00 pm:

Hi Lieska,
Yeah, I love the tree frog, too. I love the way they move and jump around in the excercise room! All I know is it is coming out in Japanese market this spring. I did not have so many choice on Yahoo Auction Japan when I got our Dalmatian for the Christmas present a month ago.
I think we are some hour ahead of you. It is 8:30am on Thursday. Meet me in Webkinz world soon!!

By Lieska on Thursday, January 10, 2008 - 12:25 pm:

By Kate on Monday, January 14, 2008 - 12:47 am:

Lieska, and others....

Can anyone tell me which Webkinz DON'T REQUIRE A LOT OF FOOD?? We have the turtle and oh my goodness!! The thing is constantly hungry! The first day we got him we'd only had him FOUR HOURS (and yes, we fed him) and his numbers dropped into the *30s*!!! I had to take him to Dr. Quack THE FIRST DAY! He required medicine, soup, and rest. We didn't even have a bed yet, so he had to go visit a friend's house and sleep in HER bed!!! It was quite the introduction to Webkinz...

We are very vigilant now and have looked up the foods that supposedly have the most holding power, but still....CONSTANTLY HUNGRY.

Anyway, we are looking for easy maintenance Webkinz, and also ones that LOOK CUTE and look cute in their clothes. You can't SEE the clothes on the turtle, which is terribly sad. The shell completely covers them up. Not happy about that...

By Wahoo on Monday, January 14, 2008 - 07:28 am:

Kate,my Dalmatian does not need to feed so much. I always feed her with bagles or cheese macaroni or any other foods that are my favorites. And her favorite food is a cupcake, so I feed her a cup cake once in a while. Do you have any friend to borrow your pet a bed to take a rest???LOL

By Luvn29 on Monday, January 14, 2008 - 10:26 am:

We have a beagle, and his numbers have never dropped below 90. Make sure that you log out everytime you leave the site because that prevents any of his numbers from changing.

By Luvn29 on Monday, January 14, 2008 - 12:06 pm:

Also, make sure that you do the daily activities. There are hourly activities and daily activities. This is an easy way to get money so you can buy the things you need.

Also, if you click on "I love my Webkinz" everyday, you will get a food item and webkinz dollars.

The fastest way to get dollars is through the Quizzes.

By Debbie on Monday, January 14, 2008 - 01:08 pm:

Also, we always make sure to put our webkinz in bed before we log out. This also keeps their numbers from dropping quickly

By Lieska on Monday, January 14, 2008 - 02:24 pm:

Kate LOL, I have never had my kids complain about having to feed constantly. We have so many I can't imagine they are loyal and feed all. Like Debbie, we put ours to bed before we log out.
Last night my DD had a pet she hadn't played with since Nov. and it was only at 74% for food. I ripped into her for not being a responsible parent :)LOL. If it was your turtle it would have died going that long LOLOL. I don't remember which pet it was. I think a dog because I remember the name being Fuzz Ball :). We also have a turtle I'll have to go and see how he is doing.

Wahoo, I can't figure out how to hook up with our time difference!!!

By Wahoo on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 - 12:59 am:

Lieska, about what time of the day are you in the webkinz world??
