Need one more gift idea

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2007: Need one more gift idea
By Paulas on Sunday, December 16, 2007 - 06:51 pm:

Well, I need one more gift idea. I was going to get the kids beanbag chairs but they are next to impossible to get. Tried Sears and JC Penny and both places won't have them until January.

So, I need one more idea for DD (11 years old) and DS (8 years). Their main gifts are MP3-Dd and Terranic (remote control thing)-ds

TIA

I have a 10yo dd and an 8yo ds. My ds is getting an Eyeclops, a chess set, a baseball glove and bat (he's playing for the first time in the spring), the entire set of Captain Underpants books and a watch. My dd is getting a camera, a bunch of Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden books, an mp3 player and a box of art supplies (paper, cut-outs, glue sticks, acrylic paints, stickers, scrapbooking papers, clay; she gets one each year, based on her current art interests). I don't know if any of that helps but maybe it will give you a jumping off point.:)

I did order DS a set of Star Wars books but I don't know if they will get here in time.

Noone here knows how to play chess so DS would be lost but maybe another kind of game. He and I have had fun lately playing battleship (he sometimes cheats though lol)

My 9 yr old loves board games. He likes Monopoly(he has the Star Wars version), Apples to Apples, Yatzee(I hope I spelled that right), and Deal or No Deal. Those are the ones we have been playing lately. He also got a small magic kit for his last birthday, and he has been playing with that a lot. Both my boys also love legos.

My kids would love books/cds/dvds.

We love playing Cranium, on New Year's Eve. (It's the only time we play it, though!)

By Paulas on Sunday, December 16, 2007 - 09:19 pm:

I bought Cranium as a family gift this year so I am looking forward to that.

I think I'll get DS some lego. Need a toy or something for DD though

this site has really great books for kids, especially your dd's age.

I got Trash Ties for my DD. I have found it in the blog I very often visit. http://www.trashties.com/

My youngest loves those dino dig things, they have little balls of dirt and you dig the bones out, I think at hobby lobby is where i got them.

Also if you have a scout store near you, they have the best make and take type kits for boys.

For your dd, did you get her speakers to go with her ipod? Those are fun to have and you can spend from 5 dollars to 100.

By Paulas on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 08:34 am:

Kaye, can you get speakers to go with an MP3 player or are they specifically for IPods?

By Luvn29 on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 08:38 am:

You can get them for any mp3. Just make sure on the box it says for mp3 players.

If you still want bean bag chairs, call some local furniture stores. I wanted some for my boys one year and bought 3 the week before Christmas from a small furniture store in one of the little communities about 15 minutes from my house. Places like Wal-mart, Target, K-mart and other big names were out. But they had a ton of them. Maybe you'll be lucky, too.

They have those I-Dog and I-Cat speakers. I think they are compatible with all MP3's. My 6 yo dd wants an I-dog and some clothes for it and does not have nor wants an MP3. Just wants the dog. To funny!

My dd loves scrabble, I like playing it also. So I got Up Words for her, it's like scrabble but you can stack the letters.
