Bad weather- brother in accident but ok

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2007: Bad weather- brother in accident but ok

I am passing the time until they are all home. My dh, brother and my fil are in a band together. Tonight my brother was in an accident. It was getting icy and someone hit him on the drivers side on a bridge. His car is really damaged and he is going to the hospital for back pain. He spun around about 10 times. My dh and fil were following in our car. I want them all safe and sound and home.

I completely understand what he is going through. The week before last, the kids and I were on our way to school (me to sub) and we hit a place in the road with ice across the entire thing. We fishtailed a couple of times, then the back tire blew out and it spun us around and we sped head on into a large enbankment. So scary. His pain will be worse tomorrow. I'm still having pain in my upper back and neck from the accident, but I've had some problems with that area before.

I'm just happy he is okay. The car is a car. All that matters is he is fine. Our car was less than two months old! Everyone keeps asking me if I am ready to cry over the car, and I say nope. I don't care in the least about it. Just glad my kids are fine and we didn't flip it.

I bet that was so scary for your dh and fil to witness though!

{{{HUGS}}} to both of you! Yikes!

(((HUGS))) How is everyone this morning? That is so scary. I can't imagine being behind him and watching the accident. That must have been upsetting to see. You would feel so helpless.

My Mom and Dad called me last night on their way home from shopping. They said there were cars sliding off the roads everywhere!!!! And they were calling to make sure the boys and I were at home and not trying to run around on the slick roads.

Rayelle, How is every one? Conni, the snow didn't slow much down in this town.. People were rushing around just like any other day. Accidents every where.

Apparently, there were a lot of accidents by us, yesterday. We were on the roads quite a bit, and were fortunate, that nothing happened to us. We did hit an icy patch on the freeway and the car slid a little, but no one was around us and DH regained control quickly. Yikes. It seemed most of these accidents happened between 9am and 11am. I think we fell into that time zone, ourselves. We just got lucky.

Rayelle, how frightening! I'm so glad everyone is okay. I hope your brother's back is okay and he won't be in a lot pain.
Adena, I'm so glad you and your children are okay, too! You are so right, the car doesn't matter. Thank goodness you are all safe and sound.
I miss living in the snow, but not when I think about the driving conditions. I lost control once when we lived in the Northwest. It still upsets me when I think of it. As I was spinning around, and hitting the brake hard, I heard my husband's words in my head saying, "Take your foot off the brake!" I was so lucky. I was stopping at a red light, spun two times, but not a car was near me anywhere. I came to a stop right before entering the intersection.
Please take care, everyone.

Oh goodness! Anymore news? I hope he's okay.

Love the florida winters. Rain is bad, and most northerners have accidents in our sprinkles because it dramatically changes the road safety. But I would say their are far fewer accidents with rain than ice. Scary! That is one reason I won't drive up north during the winter. I would have no clue how to drive nor do I have winter tires.

Stay safe everyone!

He is okay. He went to the hospital and the muscles around his spine are strained. Today his neck was sore. I guess since business opens back up tomorrow he will start with the whole insurance mess. It wasn't his fault and his car is probably totaled. Thanks for the concern!
