Is it December?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2007: Is it December?
By Jelygu on Monday, December 10, 2007 - 08:37 pm:

Because I think maybe I fell asleep for a really long time and slept through winter. Because it was 75 degrees here today!!! And now, at almost 8 o'clock, it is still 70 out!
It feels nice, but it is strange to be Christmas shopping in short sleeves!!!!

Although I guess I should be used to crazy Alabama weather by now!

Come to Wisconsin. It's definitely December and wintry outside! My home thermometer says 32.1, but it doesn't feel warm at all. The moisture level in the air is high and it feels very cold! We have a chance of dense fog tonight, along with some snow or freezing rain!

Tonight:
Cloudy with areas of fog. A 40 percent chance of light snow early in the morning. Near steady temperature in the lower 20s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tomorrow:
Tuesday
Snow...sleet...chance of light freezing rain in the morning...then occasional light snow...light sleet...chance of light freezing drizzle and occasional light freezing rain in the afternoon. Snow and sleet accumulation around 2 inches. Ice accumulation of less than one quarter of an inch. Highs in the lower 30s. West winds 5 to 15 mph. Chance of measurable precipitation 80 percent.

I would rather have all snow than the freezing rain or sleet!

You can always come to Oklahmoma. We have about 1/2 - 3/4 inch of ice on the ground, trees, and really everything. The kids are off school again tomorrow. We didn't loose power for long, but it has been going on and off all day.

By Dramamamma on Monday, December 10, 2007 - 10:14 pm:

We've been getting up to 80 most days!

By Marcia on Monday, December 10, 2007 - 10:29 pm:

You can come up to my place, because we have TONS of snow!! We're lucky if it hits a high of freezing!

By Marie on Monday, December 10, 2007 - 11:18 pm:

Debbie we dodged it this time. Here in McAleste all it has done is rained no ice thank god. I have seen pictures on the news from Tulsa and it looks bad it looked like we did last year when it hit at the end of December beginning of January. I do hope all is good your way and stay safe and warm

We are above average in Va Beach as well. It was 73 yesterday. Last week we had temps in the 40's. I was definitely loving the weather.Today it is suppose to be 70 again, but back to the 40's by the weekend..

Well, Milwaukee schools are closed today. We are an hour north and seem to have different expectations for the weather! LOL! They are under an ice storm warning. We are not.

Still, it sounds rather messy anyway. I have to work at the clinic today, from 1:30-5, but have an inservice to go to, before that, so I will be there most of the day, anyway. Then tonight, there is a meeting about some pay changes in the near future. That's at 7:30pm and is optional, so I guess I'll see what the weather brings, this evening. They are also sending letters home, to explain the changes, too. I'm assuming it's not good, but I don't really know.

I am right there with you! I wore shorts today. We just never put our summer clothes up here do we?

By Pamt on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 08:15 am:

Here in Wisconsin it's 23 with a chance of snow showers throughout the day. In Baton Rouge it's 69 with a high today of 82. I MUCH prefer Wisconsin!! :) (And 23 is the highest temp we've had in about 2-3 weeks, plus there is well over a foot of snow on the ground. This is how December should be.)

By Boxzgrl on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 11:29 am:

It's definitely cooling down in CA! My thin blooded body doesn't know what do to! LOL

Special Weather Statement on Weather Underground:

Statement as of 9:20 AM CST on December 11, 2007

... Ice Storm Warning in effect until 3 PM south of Milwaukee to
Monroe...
... Winter Storm Warning in effect until 3 PM north of Milwaukee
to Monroe and south of Lone Rock to Sheboygan...
... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 3 PM north of Lone Rock
to Sheboygan...

So, take your pick. We obviously can be under a winter storm advisory and a winter storm warning at the same time! LOL! So far it's just been lightly snowing and with the warmer temperatures, I was able to chop away at some of the packed-down stuff that froze before we could get a chance to take get rid of it, at the beginnning of December.

By Debbie on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 01:10 pm:

LOL Pam.

We have no school again today. Our power keeps going off and on, it was off for a couple of hours this morning. We are finally above freezing - 33 degrees. It is raining, so hopefully it will melt the ice on the trees. We are suppose to get more freezing rain over night, so who knows when the kids will go back to school. The local weather is saying we may have snow Friday night! Gosh, if it is this bad now, I hate to see what the rest of winter brings!! I moved here to Oklahoma to get away from this stuff. Unlike Pam, , I like Oklahoma's weather better then Chicago...well most of the time!

By Tink on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 03:51 pm:

Melissa, I'm with you. I feel terrible complaining about the "cold" but California weather is all I know so our highs in the 40's and 50's have me shivering all day long. I don't even want to talk about our almost freezing nights!

Everyone else blanketed in snow, ice and freezing rain, feel free to laugh your heads off at me!:)

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 05:27 pm:

Just light snow today! It's just pretty outside!

By Jelygu on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 08:40 pm:

Well, I think it is supposed to cool down here by Thursday. We reached record highs yesterday and today. Christopher was so inspired by the weather that he picked out a "beach shirt" to wear. (a button down short sleeved shirt with flowers on it!)
