Good place for hats/gloves?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive November 2007: Good place for hats/gloves?
By Reds9298 on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 - 03:08 pm:

Natalie has a brand new hand-me-down winter coat that I got from a friend. It's a couple of years old but never been worn, and it's bright yellow from Old Navy. Now I have to find matching hat/gloves, which is a trick in yellow!

The gloves need to be waterproof. I immediately thought of Land's End, and sure enough I found some. The gloves ARE on sale, but still are $13 which is crazy to me. I may have to break down, but any other suggestions for places to look. I've checked Sears, Old Navy, Gymboree, & Target with no luck.
TIA:)

Actually the pair at Land's End is for bigger kids. I did find a toddler pair of mittens but they are NOT on sale and are $19.50. Don't think so! :)

Do they have to match?? Or you could get a color that compliments yellow. I gave up on the cutesy matching thing with my kids a long time ago. I mean, their hat/mittens look fine with their coats, but they don't matchy match. KWIM?! LOL!

they usually have some good gloves/mittens at
TJ Maxx around this time of year.

I know what you mean, but I haven't found anything even complimentary that's waterproof. I'm fine with it not matching as long as it looks okay. The one or two things I've found that are complimentary haves been fleece, and with the winters here we need waterproof and insulated. I'm fine with complimentary but haven't even found that!:)

Have you tried LLBean.com?

By Breann on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 - 04:34 pm:

how about red? Then you could have her name embroidered on the chest of the jacket in red. That would coordinate everything :)

How about The Children's Place. A big sports store in your area might have some.

By Reds9298 on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 - 07:23 pm:

Good ideas, but a no-go. I checked LLBean and Children's Place with high hopes, but everything is pink, purple, or green AND $19.50 each. Yikes! I'm thinking I may have to do just plain black boys' gloves. It's killing me, but I may have to. It almost always snows around T'Giving here, and I'm trying to be prepared. I'm bummed. My "free" is too cute and I can't find anything to go with it!

Sorry, I meant to type my free COAT is too cute and I can't find anything to go with it.

By Luvn29 on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 - 08:58 pm:

Well, since you got the coat for free instead of having to pay for it, maybe that can justify paying a bit more for the gloves!

By the way....have you checked eBay?

okay, I have no idea how to post a link. But these seem like what you might be looking for for $9.99. There are different colors, not yellow but likely a complimentary one.

I don't know if I would go with black but another coordinating color would be just fine.

We just went to Marden's in Calais yesterday and found a coat for DS for $15! I was so pleased!

Do you have any consignment shops near you?
