Does anybody go "crazy shopping" the day after Thanksgiving?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive November 2007: Does anybody go "crazy shopping" the day after Thanksgiving?
By Tsa on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 09:47 am:

Just curious. I know my mom, sister, and I go and have a blast. It is the thrill of the hunt, the being together early and giggling, the frostbit toes. Just curious if anybody else is crazy enough to get out.

By Karen~admin on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 09:53 am:

Used to do it every year, but haven't lately.

By Annie2 on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 10:09 am:

I did it once, a couple of years ago and will never do it again! :)

By Enchens on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 10:51 am:

Nope. Not yet. I'm sure as the boys get older and start wanting the more expensive toys, I will. lol

By Melanie on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 11:02 am:

Nope. I am not a fan of crowds and chaos. LOL. I prefer to click, click, click on my computer and have everything delivered to my door. :)

By Kaye on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 11:54 am:

Yep I go and love it! I kind of like the crowds and the chaos. However, I shop my adds well and only go if there are things I was planning to buy anyway.

By Nicki on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 12:31 pm:

No, not me. Just finding parking would stress me out and I'd go back home, lol.:-)

By Wandilu on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 12:38 pm:

My DD and her SIL do it every year . But they are both hyper, and this just thrills them to no end !!!

By Cocoabutter on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 12:54 pm:

I have never gone, except once a few years back, Lately I have been avoiding crowds. Maybe it's a phobia but I don't like it when I have to squeeze through people in a crowd and deal with people pushing and shoving and being rude.

I'll go to Meijers or WalMart at midnight, Thanks.

By Dandjmom on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 03:49 pm:

Used to go for the shopping and the thrill, Now I buy my items on the day before Thanksgiving and go out the day after to just get price adjustments so that I'm sure to get what I wanted to get without having to fight the crowds. But we still like being out and having lunch together and just enjoying the day without having to stand in the long lines.

I do black friday shopping online. Never done it 'for real' though and never will. I was actually considering going out at 5am to get a digital camera for a gift for my parents last year and realized the EXACT same deals are online. I ordered it in my jammies and went back to bed. Everyone was happy. :)

By Yjja123 on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 03:59 pm:

I am happily asleep during the sales :)
I avoid the crowds as much as possible. My shopping is done, with the exception of a few stocking stuffers.

Ditto Reds and Melanie...if I'm going to have frosted toes, I'd rather elbow someone in a ski lift line than a retail shopper. :) I loooove shopping online, especially when free shipping is involved. LOL

I want to soooo bad! But, my hubby is in retail and I've yet to find anyone willing to keep the kids that hour of the day. Last year I was a little nervous because I was shopping into December and I like to be done early. I ended up with much better deals though, thanks to amazon. I'm hoping I get some similar deals this year.

By Mom2three1968 on Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 07:22 pm:

I don't go out during black friday, this year is going to be slim for us, we decided this year not to go over board for the kids, in years past I have bought things that I thought would be appealing to them, creative, constructive items and they have sat in the closet. This year we are going with them making a list and setting a dollar amount. I'm not looking forward to it and wish it were over already, bah humbug! Sorry to rain on everyone's parade here...

I always get excited about going out, then it makes me nuts and I go home. Go figure. I'm like a little kid who doesn't know what she wants.

I won't go out at 5 am though. My pillow is just too soft. I will go out at maybe 7 if there is something I want.

By Dawnk777 on Friday, November 9, 2007 - 12:39 am:

Nope, I usually end up working, and the walk-in is usually insanely busy, because we were closed the day before! I'm working 7:15am until 5pm that day. By the time I get home, I'll be too tired to shop! LOL!

I'm really working there all day, since I don't have school, so I don't get the diversion in the middle, that I get if I work at the clinic on a school day. I do get an hour for lunch, though. I suppose we need to make sure there is food to eat at home, because the restaurants will be full of crazy shoppers.

I LOVE Black Friday!!!! There is a site that posts the Black Friday ads early, they've had ads up since the beginning of Oct. I have to work this year, but I'm taking a few hours in the AM as a personal day so I can shop. I've gotten amazing deals, $75 of gift cards from AAFES for free (first 100 ppl or something like that, and they do it all weekend), coupons for 10-50% off any item, a portable dvd player, a TV/DVD combo, tools, all kinds of great stuff for cheap!
