Any updates on our ladies from California?

No one has posted anything lately so I just keep praying and hoping for the best.

I'm ok. I've missed the last 2 days because I've been really sick due to all the smoke but I'm doing better today, I even when to school :). We had a couple small fires very near my house but nothing too bad. The kids' school has been closed yesterday and today and hopefully will reopen on Monday. It really baffles me that the kids can't go to school because of the poor air quality but yet they are all outside riding thier bikes and skateboards ets. What is wrong with these parents? Dh missed our anniversary and I wouldn't be so angry if it were for a good reason, like he was helping to fight the fire or helping with the people that have been evacuated like he was when it all started. But no the stupid MEF has to have its little box checked and finish their pre deployment bs so he is doing that instead of something useful. Personally, I'm a lot peeved about the whole situation. OK rant over, sorry :(.
I hope all is well with those closer to the big fires.

Camp Pendleton from what I know is out of danger for the time being. My dil and little ones went back and forth a few different places from her house to her friends house which the MP's went through and told everyone to evacuate, but from what i know everything is okay. The air is really bad though, the baby and my grandson have stuffy noses and my grandson also has a cough. They were really lucky, I feel terrible for people that have lost their homes and all their posessions, and thankful that their wasn't a greater loss of life. I hope they will soon get on the road to recovery! Hope everyone out there is alright!

Kristy,

Boggles the mind how those parents would ignore the poor air quality warnings like that and let them outside anyway, I know my grandson is used to going outside and is getting alittle antsy but it's better indoors right now. Sorry to hear about your anniversary, I bet your poor dh isn't too happy either! Maybe you can make up for it soon.

By Sandysmom on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 08:28 pm:

I'm glad to hear you ladies are ok for the most part.

Kristie, Happy Anniversary. I'm sorry your DH has to be so preoccupied on such a special day.

By Insaneusmcwife on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 08:37 pm:

Thank you, it was yesterday but I'm still just a tiny bit upset with the MEF. Like I said if he was doing something productive I would mind a bit. Oh well. Theres always this weekend.

I'm glad everyone is doing okay. Hopefully, Melissa is all right as well.

By Wandilu on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 11:35 pm:

By Pamt on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 11:41 pm:

Glad you're okay. Still waiting for others to check in.

Kristie, I'm glad you're okay, but sorry your anniversary was a bummer.

By Insaneusmcwife on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 05:48 pm:

Has anyone heard from Melissa?

By Boxzgrl on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 06:55 pm:

I'm here. I've been reading but as soon as I get ready to respond, Nathan gets into something or Kaitlyn starts crying etc... Definitely a result of them being cooped up in the house! LOL We're all fine though. We actually have a bit of DRIZZLE outside right now!!!!!! What a blessing in disguise! Hopefully this will help rid of what is left of the fires!

By Mom2three1968 on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 07:02 pm:

Oh I hope so! Poor little guys, I know my dgs is feeling it now.

By Karen~admin on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 09:16 am:

I'm in contact with Andi, they are fine - didn't have to evacuate, etc.

By Andi on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 10:58 am:

Thanks Karen, :)

We are fine but the kids had NO SCHOOL all last week due to the fires and dont go back until Tuesday morning so they can get the Ash cleaned up on campus. I totally understand why they close the school and I prefer to have them home in a situation like this. But it is driving me CRAZY!!! I ended up going to Happy Hour Friday night with my Best Friend just to get ut for a bit.

We drove to a Halloween Party last night in Temecula and we drove on the 15. The destruction is so sad. You can just see where the fire came to the door steps of homes and the Firefighters saved one house after another. The smell of smoke is still strong but that will only last a short time.

Our friend is a local Firefighter and he hasn't been home since last Saturday. Hopefully he gets to come home today.

Things are slowly getting back to normal and my family is safe. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.:)

Andi, I'm so glad you are all ok. :)

I also would like to add how proud I am of our Firefighters.

By Mom2three1968 on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 02:03 pm:

glad to hear that your alright, I really feel for the people of California. And I agree the firefighters were heroic and should be commended for their valiant efforts!

By Karen~admin on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 02:18 pm:

My heart breaks for all the families who lost homes and family members in this tragedy. It is somewhat similar to tornadoes and hurricanes, though some of those fires were arson. Anyway, loss of property and life is tragic, no matter what the cause/reason, and those in nearby/surrounding areas are affected, if only by the possibility that it *could* happen to them. I truly understand the stress and worry you all must have endured, and I'm so happy that you guys are OK!

By Nicki on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 02:48 pm:

So glad everyone is okay.

And, yes, thank goodness for our dedicated and brave firefighters.

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 09:51 pm:

I'm glad you are okay and that the firefighters were able to save as many houses as they did.
