Prescription Swim Goggles

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2007: Prescription Swim Goggles
By Mommyof5 on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 - 08:17 pm:

Does anyone know where i can get these? I asked at our dr office today and they (Lens Crafters) do not have them nor know where we could get them. My 10 year old likes to swim but is terribly nearsighted (just like me) and would love to be able to see while she is in the water. I don't want to get her contacts just yet and thought the prescription goggles would be a good alternative.

The people in the dr office mentioned just swimming with her glasses on...I have to say that in 28 years of wearing corrective lenses i have NEVER done that. Does anyone else do that????

Have you considered contacts and regular swim goggles? Most 10yo can handle contacts. Just a thought.

I suggest you pull out the yellow pages and call around.. I know the eye dr DH uses has them at his office but the kids dr only sells sport goggles..

I have spent a whole day at the water park and worn my glasses all day. They got wet and dried off, all day long. I don't know about actually swimming, though. At a water park, you are in the water, but not really "swimming."

A whole day is just too hard without my glasses. Besides, they have transitions and it's too bright without them on.

My girlfriend wore hers, too. She is very blind, without her glasses. I can still see fairly well, without mine. When we go to the local swimming place, then I don't wear them in the water, because we don't have to put them in a locker, when we aren't using them. I just have a strap on, to keep them on my head.
