To all the women who helped me name my playroom....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2007: To all the women who helped me name my playroom....
By Dana on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 - 07:08 pm:

We made it to TV!

First let me apologize for being absent without leave. I'm sure you all understand the time I now spend building my business. Sorry to just pop in long enough to toot my horn....but hey, I wouldn't be "who" I am without all the help from you ladies during the naming stages of my business.

Here is the link to view the story. It aired today so I am hoping my phones start ringing tomorrow.

Once again, I don't type the name of my place because MV is my secret hideout and I don't want people locating me doing a random search for the playroom. So please refrain from using the initials or full name of playroom. THANKS SO MUCH.

Here's the link, but you need to copy and paste.

Hope you like it! Now you don't have to imagine what it looks like.

Wow, that's cool! It's nice to put a face with the name, too! Looks like the moms really like it and the kids do too!

Awesome! It is such a great concept. I am happy you are making a success of it. CONGRATS!

Yayyyyyyyyyyy!!!!! I am soooooo happy for you! It always brings tears to my eyes to see someone's dream come true. I wish I could give you a big hug. :) I really think with that advertising, you will see an increase in your business. You may even have offers to franchise because it's such a cool idea. Congratulations!

Wow Dana! That is so AWESOME! I just popped in for a quick visit and I'm so happy I did. I'm so very proud of you. I feel like we were all there with you in the beginning and it's so wonderful to see your dream come to fruition.

Hey and it was great to see you on video, you looked and sounded so poised.

Great job Dana, if we are ever in Florida for vacation we will pop in for a visit.

Congratulations, all your hard work and effort paid off.

I can't believe this is the place we saw earlier, when it was a work in progress. It's so neat! It really looks like it could be someone's living room.

Totally cool!

By Dandjmom on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 - 02:29 pm:

Oh I'm with Sandysmom, I could not hold back the tears of joy for you. It is so wonderful to know and see someone's dream vision come to live. I'm sure you clientele will pick up. And it's 2 years late but it was nice to see what my SS looks like.

Congratulations and good luck with everything, you seem to be on the right track.

By Dana on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 - 06:14 pm:

Thanks everyone! Wow, so many of you replied. I was so pleased w/ the reporters story. And I liked the way everything looked. I was so happy that I was able to share this with MV. You were all there at the "conception" and now we have presented our baby to the public.

Heaventree, and anyone that may find themself near my area of FL, PLEASE come to visit! My doors will always be open to my MV friends.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all the help and support you have all given me.

For follow up on story, I didn't even get one call today (or visitor). So disappointing. But I know it all takes time. I'm just so ready for things to start moving. Please say a prayer that things pick up quickly.

How is it going in general, Dana? Have you sent out mailings or put fliers on parked cars in library and grocery store parking lots? I noticed the reporter didn't mention the cool kitchen where moms can make their own snacks, or buy one premade. That was a glaring omission IMO....I'm sorry she left that out! The room/rooms looked great! The roller coaster looks so fun! I always wondered about that toy. It looked so silly in the Step 2 brochures...I never realized you're supposed to place it so that you can continue coasting!! It has such a short track it made no sense, but now it does, LOL!

I hope the word gets out quickly!!

By Dana on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 - 09:52 pm:

ROFLOL, Kate. yes, the coaster is way more fun if you keep rolling!!! I have two coasters and the kids love to go down at the same time.

As for your questions, in general, things are REALLY slow. The only time I have been busy is during my free introduction visits (mom groups were allowed on free group visit the first 2 months). First visits have been free too. But that is changing. The free group promo is over. And the first visit will soon be with coupon or friend referal....or if they just ask if their first visit is free.

I started a campaign that is an ad on the back of a local higher end supermarket register tape. Mostly just to get my name out there so when they see/hear my name again, it clicks.

Then there is a new magazine that is going out. I will have an ad in that for the first two issues. It will be going to all the OB/Gyn offices in 3 counties. My hopes there is to reach the newly pregnant mom so that I get them from the get go. Since I loose my customer after their child turns 5 I want them as soon as possible. So I decided to do the pregnancy mag rather than the parenting mag. That should be starting in a couple weeks. The supermarket thing started last week.

I did flyers once out in public and someone called and complained about littering, so I haven't done that again.

I do hand out my card when I see a pregnant mom. I take my flyers to the grocery store and casually place them on the baby aisle (I think that's called creative marketing, LOL)

My GYN has flyers, but I can't say that that is working.

I have my website and I post information on craigslist about special events. I use my signature with my playroom info when I return or answer emails from freecycle.

I will have some ads running in local moms group newsletters soon. Most are down for the summer and the others only do newsletters quarterly, so that is about to happen.

Everyone who has visited LOVES it. They all say I will be loaded with business. But it has yet to happen. It's just getting them to remember I exist. The other two places continue to pull the regulars. But one place is getting a bad rep on being dirty. And the other place the owner told me it took forever for her to get customers. They are busy all the time now.

So it just takes time and persistance. I trust God will hold me thru this and soon send my customers. I haven't spent too many sleepless nights. I am doing my best to keep faith and not worry. It is a test, let me tell you.
