Bikini line bumps

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2007: Bikini line bumps

I know very personal in nature. But how in the world do you prevent, get rid, or eliminate them!!!! We swim all the time in the summer, and I just hate them. Is there a product you can apply. I don't think I'm brave enough to wax. TIA

This topic comes up every year! LOL! I have had good luck with a cream called "Bikini Zone" but wearing a skirted bottom also works. smileywink

I use a Sugar Scrub after I shave, it eliminates the bump. I have also heard that using anti persperant works, but no personal experience with that one!

Shave in the evening. Sometimes going right out into the sun after shaving can cause the bumps.

use nair or another epilator cream - do not shave. It works fast and no bumps! Also, use a loofa or other to exfoliate the area as hair starts to grow back and apply hydrocortisone and moisturizer.

I use Nair also. No matter what I tried while shaving, I got the bumps. I have never gotten them with Nair.

I have this problem, too and actually it causes me to be too self concious to even go to the pool, even though I love to swim and so do my kids. I have heard withchazel is supposed to help, but haven't tried it. I really need to try some of these suggestions. My skin gets irratated all the way down to the inside of my thighs, so even wearing shorts can be a challenge. :( I'd love to do the laser hair removal and never have to shave again!!! lol

I don't have this problem since I started using my DH's electric razor 6-7 years ago. I never have bumps! I use the extension side of it and it's great. I never had luck getting rid of bumps when I used a razor. Now I feel really confident about how it looks and feels.

Yeap, skirted bottoms for me. LOL I've been doing them for years, before they were even "in." LOL

I just purchased a tankini and skirt bottom combo. So, skirts here, too. I think the designers are doing some great things with swimsuits these days.:-) Good ways to cover all sorts of bumps!

In my young wild, skinny days, I used to wear a thong or at most a Brazil cut - quite skinny in the front as well. Never had a problem with bumps. It really is just a matter of a little thought and prevention.

I love the skirt bottoms, I don't feel self concious at the pool at all anymore!

By Nicki on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 - 11:02 pm:

Ditto, Patti! I love that I no longer have to pull down the back area
(derriere) every time I get out of the pool.(LOL)

OK, Amecmom, what thought and prevention did you do? I would love to do that thought and prevention. (not the thong Brazil cut thing-- I don't want to scare people). HELP

By Mommmie on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 - 12:36 am:

High dollar disposable razor with a new razor every time, soap, and then shave straight across horizontally from the outside towards center. Don't shave up (towards your face) or down (towards your feet). Shave sideways towards center.

This used to work for me back when I cared.

You can also get it professionally waxed but I hear it hurts like crazy.

I've seen a growing trend of just letting it all hang out of the suits lately.

Not something I personally want to see but to each their own.

That's what I mean by thought and prevention.
Prep the area two days or so before you are going to use the nair by exfoliating with a loofah and applying hydrocortisione. Apply the nair according to directions. After apply hydrocortisione right away. Keep using hydrocortisone (I also use some benadryl cream the first day or so). Keep mositurizing. A few days later, keep using the loofah lightly to keep the skin exfoliated and mositurizer to keep it supple. The hair should start growing in without causing bumps.
Good luck.
