Help neighbors what to do

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2007: Help neighbors what to do
By Shann on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 - 11:32 pm:

There are 4 homes on our block and 3 of the homes are owners we have one rental. Right next door to my home. we had a older man and women move in a few months ago. Well since they moved in another lady moved in with them. On my dd birthday my Mom noticed something that makes me furious. A car pulls up honks it horn and the lady comes out hands the occupant of the car something and puts what looks like cash in her bra. ( while she is doing this she doesn't notice my Mom) well a few days ago dh and I are puting up a fence and we are in the back yard on the side a car pulls up and honks it horn and she comes out holding little clear plastic baggies I can only see the top of the bags. She hads them to the guy and he takes them out of her hand and looks at them and then hands her cash to where she counts it out while standing there and looks up to see dh and I do the fence and she tells the person by and hurryed back into the house. We have noticed now that people will pull in and honk and one of the 2 women will get into the car and drive around the block and pull back in. this makes me so mad I could scream. I want to call the cops but I don't want a cop to come to my home and then my neighbors will suspect something. I really don't know what to do. Please if someone has some insight I would love any input.

Instead of the cops coming to you, why don't you go to the station. Just report some funny things happening in your neighborhood and was wondering if they could patrol the neighborhood a little more frequently. You really don't have any proof, so you can't file anything. But you can report. Good luck

All the police need is suspicion of drug activity to investigate. You can tip them off, and they may do it undercover, or they may stake the place out.

But you know that you can't stand by and knowingly allow drug activity to continue in YOUR neighborhood.

I can't count the number of stories I have heard on the news in the past few years about local neighborhoods that had become havens for drug dealers and the residents and the police held some sort of big meeting or block party and declare that they are going to "take back our neighborhood!"

Take ownership of YOUR neighborhood and don't let it even start! Do the right thing. Bless You.

You absolutely have to report it. If it were me, I'd go to the central police station, because all too often there can be a bad apple in the local force who is choosing to overlook such activity.

You have to report it - first, because it's drugs and it's wrong; second, because whenever drugs are involved there is always a risk of violence and you don't want a shootout next door; third, because you have an 11 year old, who is at or getting to be a very vulnerable age, and you definitely don't want this kind of activity "right next door".

If you really don't want to go to your local police, call the federal Drug Enforcement Agency. They will pass it on.

Drug activity, very clear to me........Ditto Ginny and Lisa! You HAVE to report it, every child in your area is in danger with that going on......not just because of the actual drugs, but where drug deals are present, inevitably violence, guns, etc. will follow at some point. Report it, and don't let it drop - be persistant and agressive until something is DONE about it.

I would go to the police department and report it. You can't let it go on. Some of the rougher sections of town, around here, have been very agressive in getting rid of drug houses. I think they would take it seriously, around here.

This happened to us. The house next to us used to be a rental, and there were people and cars in and out of that house all day and night and I just knew something illegal was going on there. I made an anonymous call to the State Police and they connected me to their investigator. He did not take my name or anything by gave me his name & number in case I could get a license number off of any of the cars. I think I did get one license number as I was walking the dog and shortly after, arrests were made. I hope something gets resolved for you soon. Things like that are very unnerving. Keep us updated.

a little update. Ds coach is a osbi officer and we talked to him before sons game. He said he was going to make a couple calls. He said that if there was that much traffic they may already be being watched. but he said that he would help out anyway he can. So I feel alot better. and I am hoping that they get caught.

That's good news, Shann!

That is really scary! I'm glad that you got word to the authorites, even in a "round about" way. I detest drug use and I LOATHE anyone who is involved in the trafficking of it.

Hopefully, you have started the ball rolling, and soon, your neighbours will be someone else's neighbours, in the penitentiary.

In the meantime, watch your DK's extra closely, keep your doors and vehicles locked, and watch over your shoulder whenever you are out. People who will do that sort of activity are capable of anything, and will be upset when their "livelihood" is threatened. Take care.
