Moms View Message Board: Secret Santa 2008: Hello, hello dandjmom!!!
By Anonymous on Friday, October 24, 2008 - 05:42 pm:

Didn't think I had forgotten about you ,did you!?! I wouldn't do that, but it's been a really busy week for me.

I'm really excited about starting the Secret Santa. I'll start leaving clues very soon, but for now you'll just have to settle for me saying hey!

By Anonymous on Monday, October 27, 2008 - 10:07 am:

Hello??? Hope you are still playing!

By Anonymous on Monday, October 27, 2008 - 10:11 am:

Good, I just saw your post to Tarable. Sorry I didn't post to you before Friday evening!

First clue: I love animals.

By Dandjmom on Monday, October 27, 2008 - 10:29 am:

No I understand totally. People get busy. Well good you saw my post so I don't have to tell you that I won't repond over the weekend. But I dropped the ball onthat one. Friday was such a hectic day here at work for me. I had told myself earlier that day to post and let her know that once I left I would not be able to post to her. Well I can only hope that she understands and accepts my apology. I just don't like to think that I did anything to disappoint anyone in anyway.

Well thats a clue. But on this board isnt' that just about everyone.

So may I ask how many pets do you have?

have you have them for a long time?

Do you have kids?

What part of the country do you live? How is the weather there now? Can you believe it they are actually calling for a change of snow her on Wednesday? But I think it's just supposed to be a dusting.

By Anonymous on Monday, October 27, 2008 - 12:51 pm:

well, as people keep giving themselves away accidentally, it should narrow down the field of who I am!!! LOL!

I have more than a few animals, and have had animals all of my life. After I got married, we went the day after we got back from our honeymoon to get our first pet together. He died just a few months ago of natural causes.

The weather today is very cool. Especially with the wind blowing. The temperature is 44 degrees!

Hey there! So, do you like anything in particular for pampering yourself? Bubble bath, shower gel, candles, lotions?

Do you decorate for Christmas? I love snowmen and penguins. What are your favorite Christmasy things?

By Dandjmom on Thursday, October 30, 2008 - 09:41 am:

Sorry to hear about your beloved pet. not sure if I told you that when it happend. But I do recall someone posting about there pet dying.

Yes Christmas is my favorite holiday. I decorate. I live in an apartment with a balcony so I decorate my balcony. I caught and bought a lot of stuff on clerance at the end of the season last year, and one of the things that I've been wanting and finally got for only 3 dollars and some change. Those lighted indoor/outdoor porch trees. I've only 5 .5 feet tall but I got two of those that I'm going to use on my balcony with my lighted raindeer. I have a 7'5 foot prelit Douglass Fir that I put up inside. I do a city

Hi there! I know that you won't see this till tomorrow, but I was afraid I wouldn't get to post right away tomorrow and wanted to have a hello waiting for you!

I'm trying to hold off as long as I can to decorate. We usually decorate our Christmas tree on Thanksgiving or the day after. Hoping I can wait that long! We have a young kitten that will probably drive us crazy! No glass bulbs on the bottom of the tree!

Hey there to you also. I have no idea. no really I'm not trying to be funny. I'm sure that I used too, deep down inside I probaley still do but I don't let myself think about things like that.
And why because I can't afford too. I don't want to sound like a complainer but it's all about my kids. When I say that I'm a single mom I'm just that, I mean no help from family what little I have( as far as before care for school) and they are home don't work live right there by my sons school. My mother is deceased. So I truly live check to check. one pay is dedicated to rent and what little food I can buy with that, and the next is what my kids need, clothes, trip money, shoes, doctor, dental visits. Out of 12 month year I may be able to stretchit where I can buy myself a couple tops. I wear my clothes over and over ( yeas I wash them) Laughing at my self have to have a sense of humor to stay sain. Whe I mean is it's 57 degrees outside and the same clothes i wore in 90 degree weather i'm still wearing now. I don't have clothes for every season. This year I don't know if I will be able to get anythignfor my kids for Christmas, I'm in a battle with the gas company over a bill that isnt' mines adn they know this but they going to use soem trumped up excuseto make me pay it. I said the heck wtih it, they turned my gas off so I have no heat so looks liek the Christmas funds will go there even then I still won't be able to get it back on until after the new year.

But you asked me something I'm sorry I can answer right now, I can't even summoned of that part of the brain right now.

By Anonymous on Thursday, November 6, 2008 - 09:39 pm:

Wow. I'm sorry.

You really should check into getting your children placed on "Angel Trees" or something with the school or Social Services. That would take one worry off of your mind.

You also mentioned money for medical and dental visits. If you aren't eligible for Medicaid, have you checked into other insurances for children? We have something in our state called FAMIS for families not eligible for medicaid, but without regular medical insurance. It's worth a shot. Being a single mother, there should be a lot available to you.

Another thing I thought of after I posted this...you should check out clothes closets at the local churches. I helped with one with my church a while back, and you wouldn't believe the clothes they have. Really nice ones. And if you felt better about it, you could always give the church a small donation.

Hope you have a terrific day today!

I dont' qualify for Salvation Army, Angel tree. they all based that on your Gross , not your bring home pay.

I have medical insurance through my employer that i pay about 3700 a year for, but it's so sad not only with me but a lot of american's, you pay all this money for insurance and still have to pay high decuctables, co-pays. I have a positive attitude about it, and I know that my creator will see that they will have something.

Sorry for venting like that, I'm comforting sometimes to have some one to talk too and get things off my chest. it sort of helps me to get them off my mind. with just me and the kids at home I have to keep a lot to myself.

Well I hope you have a nice weekend, I'm going to leave out of here a little early today. Why can't Monday be the holiday instead of Tuesday. But I guess it's a day off so I should not be complaining.

By Anonymous on Sunday, November 9, 2008 - 05:19 pm:

I completely agree that Monday should be the holiday! Why can't they do that "observed on Monday" kind of thing! LOL!

I just found out that we are getting the entire week of Christmas off at work. That thrills me because I don't have to worry about taking my kids to my parents everyday that week.

I totally agree about the insurance. It drives me nuts!

How old are your children? Are they "into" anything inparticular? My son's into Pokemon and the new thing, Bakugan right now. I always like to include something in my Secret Santa stuff for the kids. If you are like me, seeing my kids get something new is better than getting stuff myself!

Hope you have had a relaxing weekend...back to the grind tomorrow!

By Anonymous on Friday, November 14, 2008 - 06:07 pm:

Just wanted to check in and say hi! I'm doing some shopping tomorrow...maybe I'll find a nice surprise for you!

By Anonymous on Thursday, November 20, 2008 - 06:11 pm:

Just thinking about you. We are thinking about putting up our Christmas tree this weekend! That's the earliest we have ever done it, but my sister may be coming in for Thanksgiving, and if she does, we will be having "Christmas" with them. That and I just can't wait to start getting ready for Christmas. We are planning on doing a lot of our shopping for the kids on Black Friday and want to be able to come home and put the wrapped presents under the tree.

Hope your week has gone well.
