By Missbookworm on Thursday, October 23, 2008 - 07:18 pm:

:) I've been checking in here ever since I got my match to see when you'd post! I'm so glad I made it in. :) I agree this should be fun!

My day was busy as always. I start work officially at 7am but I'm usually there at 6:30. I get up at 5:30am everyday.

I have 3 dks. 2 boys and a girl. I can tell you more about them if we email. My partner has 2 sons so I really have 4 boys and 1 girl (5 boys if you count the adult man in my life)...lol

The weather where I live is pretty good. The sun was shining today and there was the wonderful fall crispness in the air I love so much. The leaves are turning colours which is great! It's very beautiful where I live. We get a lot of rain in the winter but we rarely get snow and if we do it usually melts in a week.

Hmmm puzzles...did I say Jigsaw puzzles in my questionnaire. Usually I pick out scenery ones..I love architecture so neat buildings are great! They've started coming out with puzzles that are made from recycled materials and I'm thrilled with that! I hunt yard sales for puzzles every year. I saw one of the mona lisa once but a young girl saw it before I did and so she got it. I was pretty disappointed but haven't seen one since. Generally I pick 1000 piece puzzles lol I love the challenge. I love art and try to find that in my puzzles.

I'm really looking forward to this!!

I can't wait to see if I figure this out. I figured it out last time. I make a good detective ;)

How is your Sat going?
Do you speak French? DSD wants to know... clue 1 I have atleast one child.

By Missbookworm on Saturday, October 25, 2008 - 08:20 pm:

My Saturday has been great!

We went shopping and I bought the brand new macbook that's coming out next week. I have to wait a week to get it which is torture but I'm so excited. I've been looking at them (all laptops) for a while but I was undecided then I won an I-Pod and thought what the heck now my computer will mtch it :). My partner is teasing me that next I'm going to buy an I-Phone LOL

Then we went out for a late lunch and tonight we'll be snuggling up to watch a hockey game and a movie or two.

I know a little bit of french but not that much.

How is your Saturday going?

By Anonymous on Sunday, October 26, 2008 - 07:02 pm:

Sat was a busy day. It was chore day in our house. The kids love that.HaHa
Sunday we just relaxed.
So you have 5 Dsk.WOW that is alot.
What size t-shirt do you wear? Favor color? Colors to avoid

By Missbookworm on Monday, October 27, 2008 - 01:28 am:

Ummm small to medium...I'd have to say Browns have become my favorite..I love autumn colours too..I'm not too big on red.

Purple is a great colour but I don't wear it too often.

It's a lot with that many dks but it's a lot of fun too :)

Weekends when we have the little ones are chores day too however recently I cleaned the whole house and I've been working with them tidying up every day and it sure makes it a lot easier!

By Anonymous on Monday, October 27, 2008 - 01:29 pm:

Do you like coffe or tea? Or hot choc?
What kind of wk do you do?
Gotta run

By Missbookworm on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 07:52 am:

I love coffee!! Coffee in the morning, afternoon and evening. I live on coffee. Nice and strong, dark, organic fair trade coffee lol

I'm a collector of wonderful coffee cups and I own more than one person really needs but they're big and they're fun and they say alot about my personality I think. I have different ones for different times of the year. One for fall, one for hockey season, one for spring and a different one for in the summer. I haven't found a BIG winter one yet. I see a lot of Christmas theme ones but I would buy a winter one or a winter color one (dark purple) to cover the entire season and would probably call it my birthday mug. lol

Work...I do everything.

I work at a non-profit association that represents the need of rental property owners. We lobby the guy, give educational seminars and run a help line our members can call into if they're having problems with their tenants etc.

My part of the job is working with the associate companies that we have as well as all our events and educational seminars. Basically keeping approximately 1300 people seeing the value in our association and keeping our members. I also give help over the phone or in person to those people who need assistance with tenants.

By Anonymous on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 04:41 pm:

How big is the town that you live in? You are in Canada RIGHT? How soon do I need to get out your package? I want you to have it when we all open them on the 21st of Dec.

By Missbookworm on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 07:15 pm:

Well the city I live in has over 188,000 people however I live in what is considered the lower mainland of British Columbia and the population was approximately 2,524,113 in 2007. It's an area made up of about 24 cities that are all within about a 2 hour radius of each other.

I don't know how long it would take a package to get here because I don't know where you live. I think your local post office should be able to tell you. I usually send mine by airmail and give it a couple of weeks and it's always made it to various US destinations. :)

Here is some statistical information on my area according to wikipedia if you are interested.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lower_Mainland

I'm sure if you sent a package by my birthday it would make it on time. :)

When is your B-day?
I will check that website out after the DSK are out the door for school/wk.

By Missbookworm on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 - 07:08 am:

It's on December 7th?

Do you mean dear kids or dear step kids?

What does your week usually look like? What do you like to do? Do all your kids go to school?

By Anonymous on Friday, October 31, 2008 - 09:20 am:

DSK Dear Sweet Kid/Kids
Busy
???
YES!!

By Anonymous on Friday, October 31, 2008 - 09:22 am:

Happy Halloween!
Do your DSK trick or treat in Ca?

By Missbookworm on Friday, October 31, 2008 - 10:20 am:

awwww dear sweet kids...that's great! I'm glad I asked. That's one I didn't know.

Why ??? in response to what you like to do?

LOL! I put a question mark behind my birthdate...how silly!

Our kids do trick or treat here. I've lived in a few different provinces so...in Saskatchewan we usually go as soon as school let's out. Normally by this time of the year there is a lot of snow on the ground and the temperature is cold enough we have to plug our cars in!! and it's dark by 4:30 in the afternoon. Normally we go a few blocks and go back home for hot chocolate and "scary" movies. :)

In BC, where we live now it's not so bad when it's not raining. This used to be rainforest so it's rather wet in the winter months. Today it's raining and hard so it probably won't be that great. My little ones are going out with their dad this year so I'm kinda bummed about the whole thing. I don't think we'll get a lot of kids coming around this year... :(

What are you kids going out as?

By Anonymous on Saturday, November 1, 2008 - 05:47 pm:

Normal Mommy stuff HEHE
One dressed up as a vampire one was a bunny with only ears, other just walked.
Weather looked like rain here but it didnt rain for our DSK.
We got only one little DSK and it was one of our DSF daughter, she was so cute,a little WITCH!
Happy All Saint Day!

By Missbookworm on Saturday, November 1, 2008 - 10:10 pm:

You're being a brat!! I love it :)

We adopted a puppy today. It's on the main board under we might be getting...if you'd like to see it :)

I would love to see pictures of the little ones when I know who you are. That sounds adorable :)

Did you dress up?

Gonna get socks and runners on and go see my new baby outside exploring the yard :)

By Anonymous on Monday, November 3, 2008 - 12:25 pm:

No I did not dress up.
Oh a new puppy, your DSK must be really excited. That is so much fun having a new one in the house. Enjoy him.

By Anonymous on Monday, November 3, 2008 - 02:58 pm:

What did you name the puppy? How BIG is HE/SHE?We have 2 dogs a big one and little one...I WANT a Yokie (SMALL ONE) one day and I will call him/her DUCKIE.Ive already told DSH & DSK that one day when they (DSK) are all gone I will get my "DUCKIE" :) They think I am kidding about the name BUT IM NOT. I just like it,heard it on NCIS and thought it would make a CUTE name for MY DOG. ONE DAY :)

By Missbookworm on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 - 09:57 am:

We named her Tess. :) Right now she's small of course but she's going to be big. We're pretty sure she's a lab/rottweiler cross but she doesn't have the rotty bulky build I see in the pictures I've found of them. She has the ears and the markings though. The vet says she'll be anywhere from 50-100 pounds! Duckie is such a cute name! My ex in-laws had a yorkie he was such a great dog!

We were out yesterday and I was teaching the kids how to get her to run (chase them). It was so funny cause they were trying so hard and she wasn't going for it. She doesn't particularly like going out in the rain but as people neither do we so it's understandable. On Thursday I'm taking her and my daughter to my closest friends house to visit them. Her kids will be thrilled.

I'm getting some time off work starting Thursday so that will be nice. I'll have 7 days off! One of those days I'll be out of town however the rest of the time I'll be able to spend with my dk's :)

By Anonymous on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 - 02:32 pm:

It'll be nice for you to have some time off. You'll get to really know Tess. Also have time with your DSK!
Gotta run must go vote. Clue here.

By Missbookworm on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 - 09:44 am:

;) Most of the people playing this had to vote!!

I'm really interested in seeing what Obama does while president. I was cleaning and doing laundry and walking Tess so I didn't get a chance to watch the after speeches last night but I heard it was moving.

Ohhhh coffee is ready!

My Macbook laptop came in yesterday so I'm going to try to get online with it later from my hotel.

I hope you have a wonderful day! :)

By Anonymous on Thursday, November 6, 2008 - 02:01 pm:

How is your day going?
How is Tess?

By Missbookworm on Saturday, November 8, 2008 - 01:33 pm:

Thursday night I went to my gf's house...she kicked the man in her life out. They had a HUGE fight and she needed me there. I didn't get home until 3am. I was so glad I didn't have to work the next day.

Yesterday my house was broken into. I posted about it on the main board. :(

Tess is great and I can see she's growing already! I'm so glad they didn't hurt her when they broke in yesterday. My little ones would have been heartbroken and me more so. Now I just feel sick and unsafe in my home :(

By Anonymous on Saturday, November 8, 2008 - 08:26 pm:

I am so sorry that your house was broken into. I'm glad you are all SAFE.Also glad they did not hurt Tess.It will take time before you will feel safe again but you will. You have time off now enjoy it. Try to relax. DO NOT let who did this mess with your time off.Ejoy the time.
Hope you friend is doing better.

By Missbookworm on Sunday, November 9, 2008 - 01:43 pm:

I'm glad for all of those things too.

We rented movies last night and we're having friends over today with their puppy whose a couple of months older than tess for a playdate so that should be fun.

Tomorrow my boss is coming over to spend some time with me and the kids/tess.

By Anonymous on Monday, November 10, 2008 - 09:58 am:

Sounds like things are starting to get back to normal. I'm glad.

By Anonymous on Monday, November 10, 2008 - 02:12 pm:

By Missbookworm on Monday, November 10, 2008 - 03:58 pm:

It's pretty relaxed. I'm just making the kids some lunch then we're going to watch kung fu panda. I hear it's good and funny :)

This morning I took Tess and my dk's outside to rake up leaves and play in our backyard which made us all feel lazy lol we have a big yard but it was fun. :)

Are you having a good day?

By Anonymous on Thursday, November 13, 2008 - 05:08 pm:

Hope you are enjoying your time off!

By Missbookworm on Friday, November 14, 2008 - 11:03 am:

I'm back at work! I did end up taking Wednesday off also. I came to work and just couldn't face it so my boss sent me home.

Tess has been a little mischief maker the last few days!! She has tackled every shoe I own (runners, sandals, slippers) and she runs laps around the house and the yard! She's tireless. On Wednesday it was 9pm before she finally collapsed exhausted. lol It's been fun though. She's growing already and I had some pictures I was going to post but when they broke in they also took my digital camera :( I had to buy her a new leash because she chewed through the one she had lol! I bought her one of those chain ones...no way she's chewing through that :) She has a tendency when she wants to play to nip at our faces and what I've been doing when I pick her up or when she jumps on the couch with me is telling her kisses (which she then proceeds to smother me with) and then telling her what a good girl she is when she gives them and yelping like a puppy if she nips my face. It seems to be working rather well and she gives kisses a lot more now then she nips. I'm happy about that. I know it's fairly normal puppy behaviour but I don't want her nipping at peoples faces especially kids especially as she gets bigger. Have I said how smart I think she is?

I'm pretty happy it's Friday, I'm looking forward to a weekend with the family.

My oldest son is going out with his dragon boating team tomorrow to a steel recycling plant that sponsored them last year and they get to try out the equipment and stuff. They start training at the beginning of December and dragon boating should start by February.

We have about a week off over Christmas and I'm really looking forward to that! Our holidays start on the 24th and we don't come back until January 5th if I remember right. I'm really looking forward to the actual time off. It's very rare for me to get that many days off from work. My dh has to work so I don't imagine we'll go anywhere but I'll be able to sleep in a bit and spend some quality time with my little ones which is always fun!

I imagine I should be doing more work soon. I love coming in this early it gives me some time to do things without distraction.

Can I have a clue or two? *grin*

By Anonymous on Monday, November 17, 2008 - 08:58 am:

How was your weekend? Ours wasnt too bad. Cleaning house.Nornmal chores for the weekend.
I have more than 1 DSK but less than 6.
I live in USA LOL

By Missbookworm on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 - 08:32 am:

It wasn't too bad. I didn't do much. I have what appears to be a touch of the flu.

LOL about your clues ;)

I saw my doctor yesterday and she didn't find anything that pointed to anything more than the flu. We talkeda bout my diet and the likes and she told me that could be a big part of the problem since I've gotten busier I haven't been eating properly etc. whereas I used to do have a more healthy/consistent diet so I have to work on getting that back in order and sleeping consistently that sort of thing. She also said stress could be a big part of it.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

By Anonymous on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 - 08:37 am:

Hope you are feeling better today. :) Push the chicken noodle soup.mmmm :) sounds good to me especially homemade.

By Missbookworm on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 - 07:34 pm:

I am feeling much better today :) The chicken soup was soo good! Even better yesteday.

I have a workshop to attend tomorrow so it's kind of like having a day off to work even though it's work related. :)

How was your day?

By Anonymous on Thursday, November 20, 2008 - 10:28 am:

Glad you are feeling better.
Not too bad a day.Over the hump day!
Almost blow it!

By Missbookworm on Friday, November 21, 2008 - 07:19 pm:

I am. Much better.

I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend. All our dk's are going to be with their other parents this weekend so it should be pretty quiet around here.

I'm not sure about my dh's oldest one but he's usually off visiting and things on the weekend so it might just be the two of us this weekend! :)

Do you have plans for the weekend?

By Missbookworm on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 - 04:07 pm:

Bumping up...I haven't heard from you in a few days. I hope you're ok :)

By Anonymous on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 - 01:50 pm:

I'm ok but things are ROUGH around here. Life is starting to get bad. DSH was laid off last month and still hasn't found a job. We had to tell the DSK that Xmas wasn't going to be very good. That broke my heart, I can handle not getting anything but when it comes to my DSK it a DIFFERENT story.I'm really NOT in a holiday mood right now.
I'm working on getting your box out to you.It will go out on time.
Happy Thanksgiving from OUR HOUSE to YOURS!

By Missbookworm on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 - 08:20 pm:

Oh no! I'm so sorry.

Is there anything I can do to help with Christmas for your little ones?

Please if it's going to be difficult don't send me a present but instead use that money to get your DSK's presents instead.

By Anonymous on Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 01:08 pm:

I'm working on getting your package out. I hope it will get to you on time.
Have you figured me out yet???

By Missbookworm on Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 07:30 pm:

I'm pretty sure I know who you are :) but if that's going to disappoint you I could lie to you and say I don't ;)

I really would love to contribute to Christmas for you and your family if you will let me. I would love a list and I will send them all marked from Santa and no one (except you and dh would be the wiser :))

By Anonymous on Friday, December 5, 2008 - 06:45 pm:

No I would NOT be disappointed....MORE releaved LOL

I don't want (THANK YOU FOR OFFERING) you to send any thing BUT pray that DSH finds a job real soon. PLEASE PRAY HARD!!!
I am really touched that you would do that for someone you don't really know all that well. We have talked to all our DSK and they UNDERSTAND BUT IT IS HARD FOR ME!!! I always try to get them what ever they want (within reason) but this year thats not possible and I'm the one with the problem. Xmas will be HARD but we will SURVIVE!!! We are tuff!!
TELL ME WHO I AM????? PLEASE!!!

By Missbookworm on Friday, December 5, 2008 - 07:38 pm:

Pandamama004 :) Am I right?

I will pray for you all.

A bit about me because I know you don't know me very well.

For years I was a single mom (abusive ex husband) and I left my ex without his knowledge and hid for 3 months (literally) and lived in safe houses for 10 months and fought him tooth and nail to keep my dsk's with me. I won, he got access and pays child support.

For all those years every year at Christmas wonderful, kind strangers sponsored me and my children for Christmas. I was home with them for 3 years just being a parent and finally returned to work when my daughter went to school full time.

Every year now that we have more money I work on giving back and for me that's what this secret santa is all about. It's part of my contribution...call it paying it forward in a small way. :)

This year I want to talk to the rest of my family and dh's and see if they want to sponsor a family who needs extra help this Christmas with us. We are also looking at giving mom and dad a "charity" gift this year by doing something like having a well built in their names in a needy country. :)

Anytime you need a shoulder please feel free to email me. :)

By Pandamamaoo4 on Sunday, December 7, 2008 - 02:58 pm:

By Missbookworm on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 01:37 pm:

I loved the stuff Santa sent me!! :) I'm sharing the chocolates/candy with my family...looking for pictures for the frames she made and can't wait to put them on the tree :)

I can't wait to try out the scented warmer and I will probably use it while I'm wrapping presents tomorrow night! I love the ornaments for on my tree and will definitely think about you every year they go on my tree. The letter was lovely and it will go in with my collection of cards received this year.

I truly hope we keep in touch :) I'm so sorry I haven't written sooner we got a big dump of snow on us this year and I just got my internet back today!! I don't know how long it will last so if I don't write before Christmas I definitely will after.

Did you join at the new board?
