Moms View Message Board: Secret Santa 2008: Tarable
By Anonymous on Thursday, October 23, 2008 - 09:46 am:

Good Morning Sweetie,

How are you today? How's the weather. Where are in the low 50's. I'm your secret Santa and look forwarded to getting to know better. I have a few things that I'm working on and have to go for now but I will be back in touch today.

By Tarable on Thursday, October 23, 2008 - 10:44 am:

Well the weather is colder than normal for around here.. it was 45 when I left the house this morning. not too cold but had to pull out the jeans and light jacket.

I am good today. woke up in a really good mood.. hope you are doing great too.

Talk to you later.

By Dandjmom on Thursday, October 23, 2008 - 02:41 pm:

My day has been stressful, we are under staffed in my office and then I was informed that I had to answer phones for another division which turned into 5 hours today and they get a lot of calls.

So jeans and a light jacket, if you don't mind me asking where you heading to work? If so i'm jealous we can't wear jeans.

Tomorrow is Friday ( someone slipped an extra day in there on me this week) TGIF. I'm so ready for the week to be over. I would like to go to the movies this weekend and see Saw V, but I think they called for a little colder weather. Do you have any plans for the weekend? What are some of the things you like to do on the weekends?

By Anonymous on Friday, October 24, 2008 - 08:01 am:

Hi Tara,

HAPPY FRIDAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! Can you tell I'm excited? This has truly been a long week for me.
So has your day began like mines I'm at work about to get busy on time and attendance gotta make sure myself and others get paid.
So what is it that you do? I mean are you a stay at home mom, or you work? full time, part time? I didn't have the time to read your profile (sorry).
What are some of the things you like doing in your spare time besides reading? I see that you are currently reading James Patterson novel, it is a page turner? I haven't had the chance to read any of his work but see advertisements for his books on the subway all the time. So is this his first novel you have read? If not what are some of his other books you've read? and which one would you recommend as a first for me?
Allrighty lady, let me get warmed up and push these papers for a while hope to hear from you later.

By Tarable on Friday, October 24, 2008 - 11:36 am:

HI...
I am doing great and I am excited about it being Friday also.

I work full time out of the house. I test insurance software. So I am somewhere between the insurance field and the technology field. I claim more of the technology but I know a lot about auto insurance.

I actually play MMORPGs (massive multiplayer online role playing games) when I am not reading or at work. Right now my DH and I play world of warcraft but we are getting tired of it and hope that something interesting will be released soon.

I also love to cook but rarely have the time to cook like I would like to. If I had the luxury of being a SAHM I would make great meals daily instead of a couple times a week.

I sew a little but not too much. I like to make things that aren't too complex.

As far as reading. I have just started the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. I also like the Scapetta Novels by Patricia Cornwell. I also just finished the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer after Alexis (oldest dd almost 14) begged me to read it for about 4 months.. I say it was pretty good for a teen love/vampire book, which isn't really my style. Since I am just starting the books by James Patterson I am not really sure what one I would suggest.

I am trying to motivate myself to bury myself in this project I need to finish up today.

Talk to you again soon.

Oh and yes I always wear jeans to work. Since we are a bunch of programmers and tech nerds we aren't required to dress up.. Just the sales people have to dress up when they go on sales calls and conventions.. Which makes my job much more enjoyable. Sometimes I tell my co-workers that I could wear my PJs in here and no one would notice. Most people wear jeans and t-shirts to work up here on a daily basis.. But we do wear shorts and capri's in the summer.

By Missbookworm on Friday, October 24, 2008 - 02:44 pm:

Hi Tara,

Not to interfer in your conversation with your secret santa but we have a big WOW fan in our office so I asked her if she knows of any new MMORPG new releases.

Her list is as follows: Wrath of the witch king which is an expansion of WOW

Star Wars role playing game and one called War Hammer which is supposed to be great for Dungeons and Dragons fans. She has said that as far as she knows that's it for any upcoming new releases. :)

I haven't read a lot of James Patterson's books however I did read the lake house and I really enjoyed it.

*steps back out of the conversation* :)

By Tarable on Friday, October 24, 2008 - 03:05 pm:

Thanks Catherine, We are looking into the Star Wars one. There just haven't been too many come out in the past few years. And the older ones are getting a little boring.

Thanks for your info. :)

By Dandjmom on Monday, October 27, 2008 - 10:07 am:

Sweety, I didn't forget about you. I can understand why you would think that but at the same time I have to say it's only been 2 days.

I releized Friday, on the bus ride home taht I had forgot to explain to you that I dont' hae internet access on the weekend or holidays. And had planned on posting to you and explaining/apoligizing first thing this morning, but I had a few thing on ym desk that required my immediate attention when I arrived this morning,SORRY.

Well I guess that was a clue ( a major one I think) beccaue I've mentioned it a few times over the years. I don't have a computer at home.

Please accept my apology, I totally spazzed about telling you.

By Dandjmom on Monday, October 27, 2008 - 10:10 am:

Sorry again. I totally forget to hit the anonymous feature. I usually try to hit that before I even begin a post. but I was just so eager to explain things to you I forgot. sorry.

By Tarable on Monday, October 27, 2008 - 01:24 pm:

That is no problem.. I am bad on weekends about getting online regularly.

I also gave myself away to Jackie. I was just too busy trying to answer her and forgot to hit anon.

How was your weekend?

Mine was pretty good my dh's dad's girlfriend was in town so we hung out with her Sunday and took it easy the rest of the time except when we were making the house ready for company.

Talk to you soon!

By Dandjmom on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 09:00 am:

Not long enough like most weekends. I think we all do a deep deep cleaning before guests come. I'm hosting another baby shower at my house this Saturday so I've started placing things out of site and will do a major cleaning of the bathroom. living and dinning rooms Friday night after my kids are asleep out of my way.

So since the cat is out of the bag (doesn't mean we still can't talk) but I'm going to ask you to give me a list of things that you want, have been wanting, would like to have or do. I see that you are into small figurens what type ones do you like? glass, ceramic or some other type.

I guess your at work like me.

By Tarable on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 10:04 am:

I adore glass art of all kinds and I LOVE ornaments too (can't ever have too many of those because if i do I will just get another tree). But I also like ceramics and wooden carvings too. My tastes are so all over the place. My husband says that I definitely don't like things to "match". I just like to be surrounded with things that bring a smile to my face and that I love. I really don't have a certain type of thing i like. I like things that you don't see everyday. I like things that are one of a kind or that you won't see in anyone else's house.

I also love turtles and butterflies. Don't forget fairies, I love Tinkerbell but am not sure I will like the new movie. The Tinkerbell in Peter Pan has much more of an attitude that I love and the one in the new movie seems to not be the same but I could be wrong.

I am so horrible at telling people what I want. Let me see what I can think of today.

I hope you are having a good day! I am in a wonderful mood! I guess that sometimes you just wake up that way.

By Dandjmom on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 11:12 am:

That's great. i think the day goes so much smotther and pleasant when you wake up in a good mood. Well dont/ worry I have a hard time teling peopel what I want also. But it's nto rush youhave three (3 )weeks. It may be somethignthat yuo just happen to be out and see one day tht makes you remember somethgn from your child hood or past that you would like to have again.

Sweets. do you have a sweet tooth? Ice Cream do you like, hat it, it's all right? Cookies. I knwo you said that you liek to cook. do you liek to bake? I ove to cook adn bake, but in all honestly I don't have the time to do it as much as I like too.

How do you spend your evenings at home? I mean do you have a favorite program that you love to watch. I love Fringe and ER. so on Tuesday's and Thursday nights inym hosue we still to bed time so that I can watch in peace and quite.

By Dandjmom on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 11:16 am:

You know It just came to me that I'm covering for someone else at there deck so since this is not my regular computer my spell check in not turned on. So let me take care of that. I didn't think I had to turn it back on i figured it would have stayed on.

By Tarable on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 04:10 pm:

I like House and CSI Las Vegas, other than those I really don't watch a lot of tv.

I love sweets of all varieties. Cookies and cake are probably my favorites though. I love to bake but I also don't have the time.

By Dandjmom on Friday, October 31, 2008 - 06:59 am:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN,

I forget to wear my flashing horns to work this morning. But I had a back up my princess crown from Disney on Ice. I'm sorry do you celebrate the holiday? If so do you girls still dress up? Are there any Halloween parties in store for the weekend?

By Tarable on Friday, October 31, 2008 - 10:17 am:

I love Halloween!!!

I am dressed as a greek goddess today... we have so much fun doing this at work.

Jordan is being a goth fairy
Alexis is being a "newborn" vampire (for the book Twilight)

No parties but we will trick or treat tonight..

I hope you are having a great week and have a great weekend!

By Dandjmom on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 - 12:33 pm:

Hi Sweetie,

I was super busy yesterday as I am today also, we are under staffed. Somepne had accepted the position and declived two days before tey where to start.

But all that aside. How are you doing today? Have you made it to the polls to cast your vote yet? I havne' thad to be to work early this morning. So once I leave here I'm going straight there and wait for how eer long i have too, it's raining here so I have a nice golf sized umbrella and my aunt is goingto get my son from after care. So I can go and wait with out him cryign aout he is tired of standing.

Well hopefully we will knwo for sure before we go to bed. I have no idea who your voting for, so I'll just say good luck to your guy.

By Tarable on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 - 03:02 pm:

Things have been kinda crazy around here too. I voted this morning and it took me about 40 min to get through not too bad I guess.

I have been thinking about what I would like and I really would love to have another Santa. I collect Santa's (the normal ones not the victorian ones) I have seen quite a few that are nice around and I haven't seen any that I don't like. I always love the coca cola santas too. I just love Christmas decorations of all kinds but Santas are my favorite. I haven't thought of anything else but will let you know if i do.

By Dandjmom on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 - 02:38 pm:

Yesterday was my first day out to the stores since Halloween. I went to CVS and they have more decorations then I thougth they did. I will keep my eyes out, I would liek to find one not from a chain store but from somewhere where that maybe you can't haven't seen one or can't find one that looks like it in your area.

So we have a new president. I'll be the first to say I know and understand that things will not happen over night, maybe not even in a year. But I pary that we will take a turn for the better sooner rather then later. Me, you and the rest of America.

By Dandjmom on Thursday, November 6, 2008 - 02:26 pm:

Have you seen the white white Christmas ornaments> If you can go on line and see if you like it. It's very pretty this year, they are selling them here at work for CFC so that way I get to give you something that you like as well as contribute to a charity this holiday season.

By Tarable on Thursday, November 6, 2008 - 02:41 pm:

I haven't seen them and I googled it but nothing really fit what you said. are they made by someone? I will keep looking. I am sure that if you think they are pretty I would like it. I love all kinds of ornaments.

Sorry I haven't been very talkative this week but I am so busy at work. It is a madhouse around here right now.

By Dandjmom on Thursday, November 13, 2008 - 09:28 am:

Hi Tarable,

I thought maybe you would be able to see it at at the white house website. sorry. I've been out of the office with the holiday and then I had jury duty yesterday so I was not around. How are you doing?
How was your weekend?
Have you started your holiday shopping yet?
What do your girls want?
I picked up a few things for my kids so far but not much.

By Tarable on Thursday, November 13, 2008 - 10:03 am:

Doing pretty good. Things around my house are always crazy this time of year. Today is Alexis's 14th brithday!

I have picked up a few things for Christmas but really with both my dds having birthdays in Nov I have to get that done first and I have been procrastinating a lot lately.

I have no idea what Jordan wants and Alexis wants clothes for the most part but some other things I think there is a Wii game she is wanting but I am not sure what it is right now. Jordan is the one that never wants to tell anyone what she wants.. It makes things really hard. I am thinking about getting her a new nintendo DS (hers is the old style and the backlight isn't as good as Alexis's, but I don't know that she will like that too much..

And about the ornament.. It is really pretty.. I just found it.. sorry I guess i was looking at the wrong place the first time i looked.

How are you doing? what do your kids want this year?

By Dandjmom on Monday, November 17, 2008 - 12:41 pm:

Good Evening Sweetie,

I have a 13 year old and she sometimes too figures I know what she is thinking. But she did let me knwo that she wnated a xbox 360 , so I just got a goo deal I think from Walmart on-line, I got her the Xbox Arcade with the 5 games and the bonus sega game plus two other games i gto to coohe form a goroup of games, adn a pink wireless controller all for 279. I was aobut to buy one earlier for 210 from circuit with nothing but the 5 arcade games. And clothes, Nike Boots. So I will get taht next month on the 13th.

I have her 2 gmaes for her DS and a Easy Bake oven. I have been depatign wether to get her a My Twinn doll or not , but I guess if I am then I need to get on the ball ( she still loves to play with dolls) play on, play on.

My baby(5) asked for a new bike(16") i have him abtou 3 or 4 DS games, I'm goint o get him the new wireless V-Tech. He ask for things as he sees them on the tv , but the bike and a disney cars game for his DS has been all he asked for.

Well about the ornament what do you think . would you like one, they are seeling them here at work to raise money for CFC. Don't feel obligated I can find somethign else in fact I was leavign work early today to go to the store I say something in the paper that caught my eye.

So my next question to you my dear is what Chain stores do you have in your area? I mean do you have a Target, Kmart, Walmart, Home Goods?

By Tarable on Monday, November 17, 2008 - 02:48 pm:

I love the ornament, it is really pretty.

We have Walmart and Target mostly I haven't seen a KMart for years and don't know what Home Goods is so I guess we don't have those either.

I have bought all the little stuff I am getting my kids for Christmas already but I am not sure what they want yet. It is hard with our family since their birthdays are both in Nov so it is hard to come up with separate lists.

Talk to you soon.

Hey! Did you get your package? Just wondering if you've heard from Dandjmom. I'm her SS and she hasn't told me if she got her package. Thanks!

By Dandjmom on Friday, December 19, 2008 - 08:33 am:

Hi Tarable and Luv29,

I haven't been around due to an emergency that arose. First of all I did make it in to the office one day this week Tarable but forgot to bring the box.

I have it and I just took it down stairs to the Fed Ex Box. I check Next Day ( I also checked Satueday delivery) but if you do not get it tomorrow you will have it Monday before close of business. I checked that it could be left without a signature in case you are not home.

I do not have your last name so I just adressed it to Tarable, since it's coming trough Fed Ex it should be fine.

Luv29 when I got home I foudn your pacakge on ym balcony. I have no idea when it came last week or this week I don't know but it is under the tree and Thank you.

By Tarable on Friday, December 19, 2008 - 03:57 pm:

We should be home Saturday. I hope everything is okay with your emergency I definitely know how those things go. I hope you have a good weekend and can't wait to open my gift!

By Dandjmom on Monday, December 22, 2008 - 10:51 am:

Good Morning,

Did your package arrive? Listen to me, i'm sitting here at the computer and I can just check myself.

By Dandjmom on Monday, December 22, 2008 - 10:59 am:

Hi Sweetie,

What a dentz I can be somtimes, I tracked the package after my first post and then whenI came back to let you know, it dawned on me, to see if you post abotu opening your gift.

I'm so glad you liked everythng, I very much wnated to find you a pretty ornament but as you said things come up that we hae to deal wiht. So when I saw the light up santa I though of you, I believe it changes colors. I'm sorry about cutting it so close. I was stressing over it not making it on time so I'm glad that it did.
