She is in her late 70's, early 80's. Lots of health problems lately. She's always been able to pull through. This time seems different. She was admitted to the hospital yesterday morning. I'm not sure of all the details. My husband, who is usually very optimistic about everything, isn't too positive right now. I think the prayers are also needed for the family. I don't know how they would deal with it if Maman Bozorg left us.

Update, Maman Bozorg is doing better. Kidney functions and electrolytes are normal. She was on a vent for a while, and they are trying to wean her off.

Maman Bozorg is still on the vent. She can't go more than 10 minutes without it. DH is going to drive out to see her tomorrow after he gets off work. I am not going because the boys are too little and she is in the ICU. I don't think 4 yr olds and 2 yr olds are allowed.

DH drove out to see her last night. Everything is looking good as far as her labs, considering she's in her 80's. She's been on the vent for about 9 days counting today. They're thinking about doing the tube through her trachea because with the vent you start worrying about scarring.

It's been a while, so here's an update. The docs went ahead with the tracheotomy (?) though she still needs a vent. It's been explained to us that she takes a few steps forward and a giant leap back. She looked the best, healthwise, this past weekend. She got quite weak because of the surgery and all, and also because they took out her feeding tube. The tube has been replaced recently, so she's a bit better. It's just so hard to tell.

Dh had been holding up pretty well this whole time. He broke down for a bit this weekend. It just broke my heart.

That's all the info I have for now. I'll keep updating as I know more.
