C-section gut!

Moms View Message Board: Let's Get Fit! (Weight Loss Support Group): C-section gut!
By Upnorth on Monday, June 23, 2003 - 11:30 am:

I recently had a c-section and was just given the go-ahead from my Dr today to start working out again. Any suggestions on how to get rid of my c-section gut? That is really the only spot I am worried about not getting rid of.

Hi!

I did not have a c-section but from what I have read and friends of mine that have had sections is that if you excercise and eat right that baby fat will burn off. I walk 7 days a week for 30 mins and watch what I eat and I have lost 7 pds in one month. Now if you are talking about the scar that is left behind after a section the scar will fade with time. I still have some excess skin that was streched and that kinda hangs off my tummy I hope that will shrink back to normal after some more time! I hope this helps! You CAN do it!!!

I just started doing Windsor Pilates today and (provided the weather cooperates) I am going to take our baby out in the stroller and walk daily. I do have bad eating habbits but I am trying to change that too!!

C section gut - I've never had a C section, but I've had several abdominal surgeries. The muscles that are cut in surgery are weakened and you have to slowly strengthen them. The Pilates should work.

I've had good results in the past with my ab roller, for crunches, but you have to do crunches correctly and be sure you are tightening the muscles in your tummy and using them to *lift* yourself up, and not using your arms, neck or back. You can also do reverse crunches, using your legs with a ball or something between your knees, but those hurt my back to do.

Are you still doing Pilates?

I have the same gut. I cant rid of mine either. I'm watching what i eat now and walking with the baby (weather permitting) and DH. I do crunches. The crunches seem to tighten up the gut more that it was. I'm trying that low- carb diet. It's suppose to take off the tummy first if done right.
