We buy the boys homo milk and we drink 1%.I was going to switch them at 2yrs.Can they go right to 1% or should they go on 2%.Is there a big difference between the 2 kinds? I don't think they are behind where they should be for being preemies.I see some babies the same age that are bigger and some smaller.TIA :)

Natalie started drinking whole milk at 1yr., then we switched to 1% (because that's what we drink) a couple of months before here 2nd birthday because there were so many constipation problems. She's been on 1% ever since. The doctor said it was fine. I know plenty of people who never even DO whole milk at all, although we did.

The difference is mainly the fat content, and I'm not sure if it's much between 1 and 2%.

We switched our kids from whole milk to 1% at 2 yrs. because that's what we drink. However, we recently put DD (8) back on whole milk with a nod from our ped. because she is small for her age.

Do check with your pediatrician first. I don't know the age time frame, but I do know that young children need the milk fat for a while, both for body/bone growth and for brain development.

Well,it won't be for awhile. My Dh was talking to one of the doctors at work and they recommended longer wouldn't hurt them. She mentioned the fat content was better for weight and brain development and growth.:)I put Katie on 2% milk at 2yrs,she was a solid girl at that age.If Adam's eating habits don't improve he'll be on it forever. Thanks for all your advice:)
