Belly ache remedies?

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Belly ache remedies?

Natalie has been up twice already tonight, crying a lot and not really able to tell me what's wrong. She has burped pretty big twice and seemed to quiet a bit after that, and when I asked her if her tummy hurt she answered yes. I'm just wondering if something didn't settle well or if she has a little gas maybe. Her tummy feels a little bloated to me, but who knows.

Is there anything I can give her for gas? I haven't given her anything since she was a baby and took the gas drops, which of course we no longer have. Something is definitely not right I can tell. I don't know of anything different she's eaten today, although she had a fairly big supper. Any ideas appreciated! :)

What about a few bites of yogurt? Think about what you eat when you feel yucky and see if she can take a bite or two.

Thanks Kaye. She ended up throwing up twice, and then waking once or twice more with lots of belching. I can't imagine what gave her so much gas! I think throwing up made her feel a lot better. I just hadn't thought of gas or having a generally unsettled tummy for a long time.

Are there any meds for this age for future reference? She's 2 1/2. TIA everyone.

Pepto Bismol makes a chewable for her age that is watermelon flavored. Pepto Bismol
Also
Little Tummies makes gas relief drops.
You can also put some water in a glass & throw a peppermint in it, let it disolve & give it to her to drink.

Gas-X soft gels are very tiny and easy to swallow. They have 125mg of simethicone, which is the same thing in Little Tummies, but it is much less expensive.

Poor thing. I hope she's feeling better now! There's been a nasty virus going around WI. Kids at school had it, then I got it, followed by DH. Then after the holidays, it turned out that a bunch of my clinic co-workers got it, too. Ugh.

Thanks you guys!! I'll get something today to keep on hand from now on. The tummy issue lastnight is over, but she seems to now have a bit of a head cold. Thanks for the well wishes and the med info. I appreciate it!

I am glad to hear she is feeling better.
I know when my kids have tummy problems, they dont want to eat anything. I mean when I have tummy problems I dont really want food. If I do "Think" I want food, I start with bland stuff, like toast or some rice. I had always thought dairy stuff wasnt good for an upset stomach, and I know dairy can cause adults/kids to be gassy at times as well.
