5 yo dd set goals for herself

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: 5 yo dd set goals for herself
By Imamommyx4 on Monday, November 20, 2006 - 03:10 pm:

A month or so ago she announced she wanted to be able to do 3 things by Christmas. She said "After all, I am 5." Her 3 goals were to be able to snap her fingers, whistle and tie her shoes. She accomplished snapping last week and tying her shoes last night. Whistling is still got her flustered but she was so proud that she could tie her tennis shoe last night! And snaps with both hands!

She just cracks me up. It seemed like the boys grew up way too fast. And with 3 boys and dh in college we were always SOOO busy. I have tried to slow down and just enjoy everything about her.

Oh how sweet! I'm 46 and still can't snap my fingers! My family laughs at me!

I can whistle and tie my shoes, though!

Wow,setting goals at 5yrs is very impressive.:)I love it when they accomplish something they've tried doing for awhile.Katie hasn't stopped whistling since she's learned.LOL Wait until she wants to learn how to blow bubbles with chewing gum.I've had my share of big blobs of gum being shot in my face everytime she thought she had the biggest bubble coming.LOL It just gets better, enjoy her.:) ^5 to your DD.

My kids tried to snap their fingers all summer. They both finally figured it out this fall. Ds can sort of whistle now.Dd still can't whistle.

And they both learned to blow bubbles with gum last week. It's fun to see how proud they are when they learn to do something like that!

She's been blowing bubble gum bubbles for awhile. She was one of the few in her class who could do it in October when they had a bubble blowing contest for Grandparents Day.

AND she was the first kid in her preK class to be able to make underarm noises. DH taught her in the bathtub while she was all soaped up. She was the envy of every little boy in class. That was so funny. LOL! As a mom I was not too terribly happy with this particular skill for my girly girl dd all dressed in pink and lace.

LOL :)A little tomboy all dressed up looking pretty!! It just means our girls are well rounded :)

LOL! I can't make the armpit noise! LOL! I didn't learn how to blow bubblegum bubbles, until I was about 12. Now, I can't chew gum without blowing about a million bubbles. I can't even remember the last time I had gum, though!
