My daughter is eating and trying new things!

It's shocking! Sydney is seriously picky. She likes what she likes and that's it. I posted before about our issues and that she was even starting to not like chicken nuggets. We were getting desperate, so we've made a new rule in our house. You have to try it! You can spit it out if you don't like it, but you have to serve yourself everything and try it. I've also made the deal with her that there will be always one thing she likes. It may be salad or bread, but that's the only promise.

She has now tried...tortellini, CHICKEN (shocking!!), a little bit of a hamburger, meatloaf, mashed potatoes,a chicken taco, more chicken on her quesadilla, she had a little sauce on her spaghetti! She tasted chicken divan and had to spit it out, but I understand that one. She's done really well! After she does well, then I don't mind now getting pizza one night. She even requested chicken one night!

I just had to share how great she's doing.:)

Good for you. We took the same approach with my ds, and it helped a lot. He still, unfortunately, has reflux issues, so it is slow going. But, he is slowly eating more and more.

Woo Hoo!!! I've got three picky eaters so I know exactly where you are coming from. My older two are much better now and I think they started outgrowing their pickiness when they were between 5 and 6yo. I hope Bella will be following in Syd's steps soon. Sydney has certainly expanded her basic menu by leaps and bounds.

I wonder if going to school helped that process or if it's just the age? ^5 Syd! That's awesome! What a relief!
We have the same problem. I'm thinking about putting Connor in Montessori on Mon/Tues/Wed (when he's potty trained) just so he sees other kids eating different things. I wonder if that helps? Not sure...

Yay! Glad to see her tastebuds are maturing :) It should only get better from here.

Great job!

That's great! My formerly picky 7 yr. old has become quite the food gourmet lately. School has definitely helped since her school is very big on healthy choices and teaches the kids about taking "no thank you bites". We have a try one bite rule in our house too and it really helps. Things my kids would not eat last year, they have tried again recently and have decided they do like these foods.
