Dropped ds off at school....Now what do I do?

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Dropped ds off at school....Now what do I do?
By Momofmax on Friday, August 11, 2006 - 11:49 am:

I dropped ds off at school this morning. He's in second grade this year at a new school. I homeschooled after the hurricane last year so this first day is like kindergarten all over again. He's my only child so it's hard on both of us! He was excited last night but after getting there and being the only new one (all of the other kids were talking and getting reaquainted) he got very nervous and scared. He kept trying not to cry. My poor baby! I know these experiences are necessary and prepare him for "life", but they are hard. Now, what do I do with myself? So far I'm vegging and watching The View. I might adjust sooner than I think! I'm anxious to go get him - I know he'll have met a friend.

Have a special treat waiting for him when he gets home.

I agree with Colette! I'd love to be an "every Friday after school there will be fresh baked chocolate chip cookies!" mom, but sometimes I just can't get it done. I'm out of vanilla right now, anyway! lol Enjoy your day. You'll adjust sooner than you think. :)

I never had a whole day ahead of me, when the kids both went to all-day school, because I have been working as a lunchlady, since Emily was in first and Sarah was in 4th! LOL! Only if I've been sick!

Wish I could tell you. I paced the floor trying to accomplish something but didn't accomplish much that first day and today.

Next week when school starts all day, I have some kind of appt every day, dr yearly check-up, hair cut and color, vet appt and something else I can't remember right now. Then I'm going to make a list and start on cleaning projects such as one day clean out the hall closet, one day clean out the cabinets in the hall bathroom, paint the downstairs bathroom, etc. I've got to keep busy or it will kill me. I felt like I was having a heart attack this morning after I left dd at K. I called dh and we talked until I calmed down. Mile stones are never easy.

Awww! I know this is how I will be in a few weeks. I love the idea of a special treat waiting at home. I hope the anxiety gets better and you are able to relax and have some Mommy break time! ((HUG))

{{{hugs}}}

I am so dreading school starting in a week. My youngest will be starting 1st grade. It will be his first year of all day school(he only went 1/2 day for k. He is my little chatter box. I am scared I will be lonely without him. I really enjoy my dks, and I just love summer. I am so very sad that school is starting soon. Now, they are both ready to go back, but I am not.
