Alert - prescription cough medicines with Carbinoxamine

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Alert - prescription cough medicines with Carbinoxamine
By Ginny~moderator on Friday, August 4, 2006 - 04:24 pm:

This is a prescription cough and cold medication - Carbaxefed DM RF and Carbofed DM. The FDA says it has never been tested in children and it is not approved for use for children. It is also in many other antihistimine products, many marketed for infants.

Palgic and Carbinox Maleate are approved by the FDA for use with allergy symptoms (not for cold and cough) and not in children under 2. If your doctor prescribes a cold and cough medicine for your child under 2, ask if it contains carbinoxamine, and ask for another drug that is approved.
