Mason(6 months) is getting TWO teeth. It was one as of last weekend and today I look in and there is another one. He had his shots yesterday and last night he was NOT happy. To top it off, I'm trying to wean him off of BFing and trying to give him more formula bottles. He's not a happy camper. Is there anything special that I can do to help him? It's been a long time for me and DD never got teeth this early.

I've been doing Ambesol and then Tylenol as needed at night. Are there any really good teethers I should look into?

I didnt' care for the Ambesol. I used oragel teething swabs ( so not to use fingers), and gave tylenol at night if needed. as far as gettign him to stop bfing. I had to stop cold turkey with my son, I developed a infection ( viral)while breast feeding son and idnt' wnat him to catch it so I stopped. I used Avrnt bottles the nipples really helped with the transition.

as far as teethers, try one of his white baby wash clothes. adn just lay it int he freezer or fridege for a while and let him holed and chew on it. Also there is a baby feeder that contains a mesh net that you can but soft foods into a few peicies of cold fruit or what ever you decide could be given to him to chew on. it has a small orange handle so that he can hold himself. I hope that you find something that works for him and you. I can't recall my daughter teething it had been over 8 years when my son came along so it was like a new thing for me too.

I agree with the switch from anbesol to orajel. Orajel is a staple in this household. :) And I agree with the washcloth as well.

Orajel here, too, but never used Ambesol.

Natalie absolutely GNAWED on a small stainless steel pan lid for about 2 weeks. It was the only thing that made her happy. The drool just poured out of the bottom, but I guess it felt good to her.

There's also a great Discovery Toy teether. It looks like a dog toy to me, but Natalie chewed on that a lot, too, and it seemed to soothe her.
Good luck...I'm no expert for sure. Natalie didn't teethe until about 10mths., and really only had a couple of bad spells.

Eve,

I swear by the baby safe feeder and ice or frozen fruit inside it! It was a lifesaver when my kids were teething. I think they sell them at Target, Babies r us etc.. Hope he feels better soon. :)

Ooops...forgot to add- Hylands Teething tablets are wonderful. They are homeopathic- all natural- they sell them at most regular drug stores and all health food stores now!

Definatley frozen washcloths!!! I also use a frozen bagel. When I've had to give something OTC I use gripe water,it helps with the upset tummy they get while teething.
