Trina- Carseat Installation Question

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Trina- Carseat Installation Question
By Boxzgrl on Thursday, May 4, 2006 - 04:49 pm:

I have an appt for an inspection on the 24th but I want to get the seat in now in case Nathan gets here early.

#1- Where is the best place to put the Companion? I have an 05 Toyota Corolla so it won't fit in the middle next to Kaitlyn's Roundabout. Does it make a difference whether it's behind the driver or passenger?

#2- LATCH or regular installation? Is one better than the other?

THANK YOU!

Hey, you're on bed rest! YOU better not attempt to install that car seat, you hear?! LOL! Have your DH do it. :) That said...

The CPS Tech manual states that the outboard positions differ marginally safety wise, so it doesn't matter what side you choose. Install the infant seat in whichever position would be most convenient for you. Personally, I preferred to have the youngest child behind me (the driver) but that might not work if your DH is tall and drives often because he won't be able to push the driver seat back.

As long as a car seat is installed correctly one type of installation (LATCH vs. seat belt) is not better than the other. However, in some cases you may be able to get a better installation with one or the other. I suggest trying LATCH first as it tends to be more user friendly. Be sure to read the instruction manual.

Let me know how you like the Companion. Oh, this is exciting!

Thank You!

I actually did install it myself using LATCH and to my surprise it was actually quite easy. (Assuming I did it right, of course!) I've been playing with the Companion and i'm really in awe over the inflatable headrest, lol.
