What tops YOUR child's Christmas list ?

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: What tops YOUR child's Christmas list ?
By ~harlena on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 04:20 am:

OK, I'm new here, it's the middle of the night, I was wrapping presents earlier, a cake is currently in the oven for tomorrow's family celebration (when else can you bake a cake with 4 munchkins running up and down the stairs, someone is ALWAYS calling from one room to another. I promise, THIS is the safest time to bake a cake !)

So I got curious ... what's on your child(ren)'s Christmas list this year ? I always like to hear what other people are planning on giving thier munchkins, and what the munchkins' expectations are ...

3yr (boy) old - cars and trains with a bit of super heroes thrown in

7yr old (the only girl) - MyLife (handheld electronic thing) and a TouchScreen MP3 player (the iTouch was NOT an optin for a 4yr old, but found a generic one !)

10yr old (boy) - he only wanted three things, a puppy (specifically King Charles Spaniel, had to settle for a King Charles Spaniel mix), Star Wars Force Unleashed for Nintendo DS and the Vulcan Nerf Gun thing

15yr old (boy) - he wants his own cell phone, but we're leaving that as the motivator for good grades, will happen whenever he puts more effort into school, NOT going to be a Christmas/Birthday present .... so he just wants a giftcard to spend as his chooses, he'll get a giftcard, but I also hit some clearances and got his "namebrand" clothing items for incredible prices !

The dog sounds nice. I miss having a cat.

The Vulcan Nerf Gun sounds cute...

3 year old boy a little tikes cd player. A little tike remote control car. I am so tired of picking up his toys.

8 year old got alot of science stuff that daddy bought to experiment with. I hope he didn't buy any thing dangerous..... knex to try.

My kiddos are getting stuff with SpeedRacer and Cars on it (T-shirts, dishware, throw blankets, books, rainboots, etc. They haven't really requested anything, except for the 5 year old. He wanted a Star Wars light saber. Dh and I both said we didn't think Santa thought it was appropriate. lol

I don't think they really know they can have a wishlist.

7 yo dd wants an American Girl doll that looks like her from Santa. And she wants Mom and Dad to get her a pink Nintendo DS Lite.

They both want a Wii fit and dd wanted a guinea pig. She won't get that till she brings her grades up and can keep her room clean, since that is where the pet would stay.

So they are getting a Wii fit. Dd wants am American Girl doll but I can not see spending $90 on a doll especially since she never plays with dolls.

My daughter (she's 7 now) got an American Girl doll a couple of years ago ... she still plays with dolls, a LOT, they are very expensive, I know, but that was her "big" gift, and I had a coupon when I ordered it online, also, I find the doll acessories at Target (to fit their doll) or second hand .... she got the one that looks like her too !

I know a number of people who are getting wii or wii accessories this year, in fact I just picked up an extra gun for the wii nerf game for a friend of mine (she couldn't find an extra gun and has twin boys, NEEDS two guns !) last night.

Star Wars ... oh yeah ! We have MANY MANY Star Wars legos going on ..... and, probably unfortunately, a few light sabers. I fought the "gun" thing for years and years ..... my youngest (he's 3) makes them out of whatever he can find .... my kids still don't play war games, but I gave in on nerf guns ..... that being said, when the oldest (he's 15) wanted air soft and paint ball stuff, I told him he had to be thankful for nerf, hahahaha !!!! Needless to say he has neither paintball or airsoft .... I could just see a little person (the next one down is 5yrs younger than he is) getting caught in the middle, agghhh !

It's definitely tough these days ...... and when the munchkins believe Santa is God, all creating, no spending limit, etc ... it's doubly tough ..... I had to tell me daughter when she was very small that Santa believed little girls only get one doll, that would leave enough for every little girl. Thankfully she was ok with that, otherwise, American Girl, Chou-Chou, Baby Annabelle, and Baby Alive would have been on every year's list !

I was thinking about the marshmellow gun maybe for outdoors for ds birthday. I would have to buy the marshmellows then... To bad you can't order the marshmellows with the marshmellow gun. Maybe you can...

By ~harlena on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 - 11:45 am:

The marshmellow gun, I keep seeing it and imaginging a huge mess, wondering what these people were thinking when they created it ... DUH ! .... I didn't think about outside ! Perhaps that says something about the nerf gun wars that always exist INSIDE my house ....how fun .... if those go on clearance after Christmas that would be an awesome gift for my son's birthday, (in Jan) I'd have to buy a couple of them for this to happen, but how FUN !!!!

Thanks Feona for reminding me there ARE other place to play than upstairs and downstairs !

I was just thinking for outside. I am going crazy here picking up toys. I am exhausted. I can't pick up anymore pieces of junk on the floors. I am throwing more and more little pieces on the floor when I see them....

We have a nice yard.. for here anyway. Alot of people will laugh... it is like 50 by 200 foot lot.

I think john would just be interested in how far the gun shoot and is it like a rocket. He is more just a engineer like his dad. scientist.
artist musician...

Oh my don't we love our talented kids! and we love them more for some reason if they have a hard start.

I have to get off this computer. merry christmas.
