The following are two items I would like to make! But I'm gonna have to be real creative;)

They are from Hearth Song, wwwhearthsong.com I love their products, but I feel they are a little pricey.

The "Under the Sea" one sells for $79.95 and the garden one sells for $69.95 (plus shipping handle and tax if applicable.)

It would save me a huge bundle making these. The "Under the sea has a ring of fish and seaweed and the garden has flowers, etc. Need all the ideas and types of materials I could use! Including different kinds of fabrics!

The pics may be too small to see and I mail have to make them bigger...

Use an embroidery ring and staple fabric to it. Inexpensive tulle would be great.

I'm not exactly a sewing expert, but as far as material ideas here goes! How about a styrofoam ring for the top. That way you could insert fake flowers into it. Or... one of those wooden rings people put the fabric in to cross-stitch. (Or another similar, lightweight wooden ring) Fabrics... Different shades of chiffon? Perhaps satin for the seaweed? Make the fish out of either a satiny or felt-like material, and hang them from ribbons. Buy a real starfish from a craft store, and paint it with a bright color. It looks like a beautiful and fun project, but a lot of work. Don't forget to show us the finished product!

Well Yvonne and Crystal, great minds think a like;) How could I go wrong!

The website gave me knowledge of amount of material so I went internet window shopping. Paper Mart has some really good prices on tulle, I was hoping after seeing the amount I needed.

To be honest I should have placed a $$ amount on each one. I would like to spend $20-$25 on each one, yes on the cheap side. With your ideas, I think I could do it. The embroidery ring would be sturdier, but pricier, I will have to look into that, because the idea of styrofoam ring and being able to change the decorations is very enticing.

Also Paper Mart has the tulle that has the edging if I want to pay for it!

The satin is such a good idea, and our Walmart always has the rack that's a $1 a yard;)

Thank you so much!

I agree Marg...just keep your eyes open for a good fabric sale. Sometimes you can find things on a clearance rack for very cheap!
Looks like a fun toy! You'll have to post pictures once you get everything together :)

Marg I just bought two plain canopy type hangings similar to the ones you posted at Shopko on sale for $7.49. One is a turqouise color and the other is pink. They are very plain just the colored netting but if you could find the plain ones it would be easy and inexpensive to embellish it with flowers or whatever else matches the theme you are going for. You should be able to easily be within your budget of $20-25 each. I have also seen a plain white one at Target that sells for $12.99 regular price.

omg Tammie! we don't have a shopko here we are in pa, and no online store:(

I looked at target and online they are $24.99, but still a good price;) I will really have to look around.

Boy this would save a lot of time!
