Medical updates

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Children with Special Needs: Medical updates
By Kaye on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 - 04:23 pm:

This was the week of dr appts for us.

So the not so great news, but expected, is we finally got my youngest diagnosed. Mild aspergers, with probable adhd and anxiety issues. I love his new dr. We are starting some new meds, tomorrow I hope (waiting on pharmacy). We knew he was, but I guess kept hoping they would say, no no, fix him with this..LOL. Anyway, so meds, which we have to watch very close due to an anaphlatic reaction 2 years ago, and then maybe something called interactive metronome training. I need to look into that bit more.

On my middle kid, he is official in remission from his arthritis. The doc feels like he has "outgrown" his JRA. We are so excited, it really is a new lease on life. She even encourage him to go play football! The only odd thing she said, she felt like he is 99% good to go and we won't ever be back, but sometimes when they get to where they start to "sow their seeds" issues can come up, he needs to be careful, use protection and watch for a flare. My boys were both with me, so I didn't get to really ask...huh? What does that mean? Is it repetative injury, hormones, or more susectable to diseases? My hubby said to me "I guess we have to watch for swollen wrist!" Geez...such a man. Anyway, just great news I had to share!

{{{{{Hugs}}}}} Yes, a dx is a mixed blessing. I know where you're coming from.

HUH??? I'd want to know what that comment meant, too. Weird. Let us know if you find out.
