Moms View Message Board: Parenting Children with Special Needs: ADD update
By Cat on Saturday, September 1, 2007 - 08:17 pm:

Randy's been on strattera now for 2 1/2 weeks and we've decided to take him off it. It isn't helping him at all and about an hour ago out of the blue he came in the house, went to his room and started crying. He'd been outside playing with Robin and a couple friends. We tried to get Randy to tell us what was wrong and he kept saying nothing, just leave him alone. He did admit he was tired. So we talked to Robin and he said nothing happened, no one did anything. Randy's been asleep now for about 1/2 hour. I know he's tired, but crying like that and not talking to me isn't like him. I'm not willing to risk him getting depressed and doing something stupid just to take this med that isn't working anyway. I'm looking at other things like Constant Focus and Focus Factor and such. I've also started him on a really good vitamin that I take, also. I'm sure he can use that. It may not help him focus, but with as active as he is and his lightweight diet, he can use all the vitamins he can get. So back to the drawing board. :( I'm going to try and get him to talk to me later. Right now I'm going to let him sleep a little longer.

Cat, I have absolutely no advice, I just happened to read this and I feel so bad for Randy. You, too! It must be so frustrating for you both. Randy seems like such a great guy.
I hope he's feeling much better after his nap.

No advice but I thought I would tell you that my mom has ADHD and she has been taking I believe it is Focus Factor or something like that and she says it works really well once you get it in your system for a while. She doesn't like the way the other meds make her feel. Good luck with Randy and I hope he starts feeling more himself soon.

I hope he's having a better day!

Just another note...all those focus drinks/med typcially have b vitamins in them. It takes a month for those to build up to help.

Homeopathcially, claming magnesium is supposed to help as with the b vitamins.

So far we are doing very well on the spark, I was really doubtful, but we seemed to have turned a corner and it is going good here. We are about 3-4 weeks into it.

Hello~

I am new to this group and am looking to buy a used Therapeutic Listening System. My son has Sensory issues, but I know that they use this for ADD and ADHD as well. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!
Jenny
