Calzones

By Tunnia on Thursday, December 19, 2002 - 01:51 pm:

1 loaf frozen bread dough
pizza quick sauce
8oz mozzerella, shredded
whatever you like in your calzone, example:
pepperoni
italian sausage (no casings and brown first)
bell pepper
onion
mushrooms
black olives

Thaw bread dough, but don't raise. Cut loaf in half and pat one half on a baking sheet that has been lightly coated with olive oil until it is a large circle, but not so thin that it tears (be sure to coat your hands with olive oil when handling the dough).

Spread as much pizza sauce as you like on half of the circle leaving a 1/2 inch without sauce at the edge. Pile on whatever toppings you like. Sprinkle with some shredded mozzerella (whatever amount you like). Fold half without toppings over and crimp edges together using a fork. Spray calzone with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian seasonings if you like. Repeat with other half of loaf. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until dough is golden brown.

Makes two very large calzones

This is a good recipe to make with children because they can choose what goes into their and then help make it.
