Looking for a good, easy chili recipe

Moms View Message Board: Cooking and Recipe Discussion: Beef/Veal: Looking for a good, easy chili recipe

I want to make chili, but neither have a tried and true recipe nor the experience to "wing it".
Anyone want to share a good, easy chili recipe?

Well, here is what I do. Ground my beef. Remove excess grease. Add in lots of chopped onions. DH likes to add green pepper. I prefer red pepper, but seldome add it. I flavor w/ some garlic. If you have another veggie you are fond of, add it, celery perhaps (but I dont).

Then we use the McCormicks MILD Chili mix and follow their directions. Put beef in crock pot. I add one big can of kidney beans pulls an addition regular size can. I like lots of beans, and sometimes even do 2 large cans. The McCormicks will tell you how much tomato stuff to add. Cook all day. Pretty fast and simple.

By the way, if you don't like spicy chili make sure the word MILD appears on the McCormicks package. I bought the regular, and no one I knew could eat it. Just too spicy without adding additional flavor. If you like spicy (and my DH does but couldn't eat the other stuff) you might be best getting the mild and adding your own hotsauce to taste.
