A boy from my church was killed yesterday in Iraq

Moms View Message Board: The Fox Hole (War-Related Discussion): The Yellow Ribbon ( Post names of family/friends in the war.): A boy from my church was killed yesterday in Iraq
By Ginny~moderator on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 - 06:51 pm:

Sherwood Baker was a contemporary of my two younger sons. I remember him as a young child at church. He was a foster child to a wonderful woman, and a thoroughly obnoxious brat, with many learning and social problems. His wonderful foster mom raised this young man marvelously. He went to college, married, fathered two young children, joined the National Guard. He was killed yesterday in Iraq.

What a tragedy. :( His family will be in my prayers.

Thank you, Amy. Every time I hear about casualties in Iraq on the news, I dread coming to this board because of all the military families here. I am so afraid that I will read that a MV loved one has been killed. I never dreamed it would be me posting the first "close" casualty. (I know others have posted of buddies of their husbands or friends being killed. But for some reason this one seems to me to be so close. I guess because I watched this young man grow up.)

His family is in my prayers. This is all so horrible.

The family will be in my prayers too, Ginny.

I hate hearing this.......his family is in my prayers.

Sherwood had been in Iraq, and was there, according to KYW, "to help search for weapons of mass destruction".

I am so angry about this I am almost beyond words.
